The Bro-Magnet by Lauren Baratz-Logsted

The Bro-MagnetThe Bro-Magnet by Lauren Baratz-Logsted

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This has got to be one of the BEST "GUY" stories out there! Seriously!

If you've ever wanted to get inside of a guy's head while growing up, meeting someone, messing up that relationship, meeting someone else, falling in love - This book is totally for you!

I LOVE getting into a guys head - How the heck does Lauren Bartatz-Logsted do it?? WOW!

The book starts off with Johnny Smith telling his story -

"Right from the start I've been a disappointment to women"
When he was born, his mom held him for a few mins. She thought he'd be a girl, then she died -
"If you'd been a girl," Aunt Alfresca says, taking me from my dead mother's arms..." This never would have happened."

I know all this, not because I was born with some kind of precocious baby-genius capability to instantly understand language, but rather because Aunt Alfresca has spent the last thirty-three years reminding me, at fairly regular intervals."

"As I said right from the start, I've been a disappointment to woment.

Then we hear a few cute little stories of him being in grade school. Going outside to play with the guys in the neighborhood - the guys always liked him. He was a big kid - not fat, but always stronger, more energetic and ready to play sports type bigger.

But there were only 5 guys in the neighborhood, so he went next door to ask Alice to be their 6th - but Alice has issues with Johnny "Nice way to ask, Smith... We kinda need one more."

Even when he tries to be nice, he can't seem to get it right.

Sometime in Middle School, Johnny see's Alice in line at lunch. Alice Knox has the nicest... breasts of any girl in their class, and out of nowhere he reaches out to place a finger under her bra strap that's peeking out from beneath her pink tank and snaps it.. which is almost immediately followed by ... Slap

So spreading the word in Middle school, the guys cheer for Johnny being brave enough to snap Alice's bra, and the girls turn their heads at him for being "the strapper"

Senior prom - Johnny is going to prom with 7 other guys. It's not like he didn't want to take a girl to prom, actually ONE girl in particular, There was only ever one girl in that school he'd buy a corsage for. But he couldn't work up enough courage to ask her to the prom, so he decided to go stag. When word got out that he was going stag, and 7 of his friends decided to go stag with him, pretty much ever dateless girl in the school decided they'd hate him for taking 7 guys off the prom market.

(I think I'm telling too much of the story, and we're not even a full chapter into it yet!)

Anyways - SO more goes wrong at prom and he starts to wonder why guys are always telling him he's such a great guy, and yet, he can't get a girls attention..

After Johnny's dad got sick, he pretty much took over his dad's house painting company.

He usually brought along his BFF Sam (the Lesbian) to help him out. Everywhere he went, the man of the house seemed to want to become friends with Johnny, but the women were always the first to leave the house.

When he started painting Steve Millar's Dining room (for the 4th time) Steve started getting chatty with Johnny. Next thing he knew he was inviting Johnny to the Yankee’s game... $800 seats!

Now one thing we learn about Johnny was his dad, Big John raised him alone, Sure he had his Aunt Alfresca to tell him when he was screwing up everyone's lives, But Johnny did learn to become a big loyal sports fan.

So he declines the tickets (even the $800 seats behind home plate).

But eventually he caves in and decides he'll never get another chance like this. So even though they're Yankee tickets, he goes to the game with Steve. Being totally out of place, Steve and his Lawyer buddies all in suits, and Johnny in his typical Jeans and t-shirt (leaving his Met's cap at home) they hang out. Of course everyone seems to take a likening to Johnny right away.. that is except the stuffy looking women sitting on the other side of him. He tries to make polite conversation, but of course she politely declines.

He thinks she's really pretty, and can't stop thinking about her.. When Steve (whom somehow invited himself to their Friday night poker game) gave Johnny Helen's phone number because she's looking for someone to paint her house.... Johnny gets nervous..

Ok I will stop there :) I really LOVED this story! The POV from Johnny was awesome! I really felt like he was telling me the story from his POV - not like he was narriating a story, but it was happening to him with his own words.

He struggled with his feelings, he had a Lesbian as a BFF who screwed up her own relationships - so together the two of them tried to figure out what a women really wants -

HILARIOUS! I laughed so much while reading this story - it really was great!

Recommending it to everyone who enjoys a really good story - the romance was very light, but perfect for HIS Pov - there are no details or touchy feelings, just as it is - I would say this is great PG - but in an Adult Situation:)

Cold Blood by Heather Hildenbrand

Cold Blood (Dirty Blood #2)Cold Blood by Heather Hildenbrand

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great story - I’m not in love with the cliffhanger – But there is a great set up for the next book - really looking forward to that one : )

This was an awesome story - lots of action and drama :)

We start off with Tara getting ready to leave for Hunter school, just a couple of days after the first book left off. Tara isn't thrilled about leaving her home, her mom and grandmother, her friends and school, but she knows she needs to learn about being a hunter and working towards making Vera’s vision come true.. Leading the Cause .. with Wes by her side..

*sigh* Wes *sigh*

Wes comes over to talk to Tara before she leaves. That's when he informs her that Jack is still healing and needs Wes to stay and help run to cause. in fact, Jack is asking Wes to take over the leadership of the Cause - SO Tara is forced to go to west point hunter's school and be without Wes - that's just not fair :(

When Tara gets to the school, she literally runs into a familiar guy with very green eyes. he looks at her, then turns and stalks down the hallway and turns the corner. when she realizes he was at the warehouse incident and saved her life, she wanted to follow him.. but her Grandma pulled her attention back to the school... and off they went to meant the Headmaster.

The Headmaster gives Tara her schedule and lets her know her trainer will be here in a sec to show her to her first class.

waiting outside the door watching her mom and grandma leave her, she turns and sees the familiar green eyes again.

Alex is a senior and his job is to catch Tara up with her physical training so she can graduate with the rest of the class next year.

Walking in front of her, Tara follows silently as they pass by a bunch of other students glaring at her, whispering and pointing at her.... she tried to brush it off as just being the new kid, but when she heard a few people saying "Dirty blood" and "mutt" she couldn't help but feel insecure. but she wasn't going to let them see that.

Tara is roommates with none other than Veronica - the schools most popular ice queen.

Things couldn't get any worse..

Trying to stay away from her as much as possible, she becomes friends with Logan and Cambria - the school's other misfits. Logan is too much of a hottie to blend in with the geeks, and the cool kids all figured out that he’s too smart to sink their shallow standards, and Cambria too stubborn to conform. So they took Tara under their wing.

When Alex starts training with Tara, he comes off cold and distant. When Tara realizes it's because he, too has issues with her mix blood, she tries to be just as cold back to him. but then they become friends - and that turns into something a little more - but she's with Wes, and she loves Wes, so why is she attracted to someone else?? she tries to brush it off as Wes's absence that's causing it, but then Alex starts to show his interest, and she doesn't know what to do...

I love the friendship that is bonded with these 3 misfits :) Cambria is awesome. I love the way she thinks. She is all talk and action and even with her "Charming" attitude, she couldn't care less what people thought of her.

As Tara’s past creeps up on her, she has no other option but to relay on Alex and Logan and Cambria to help her...

Great story - can't wait for the next one to come out :)

Remembrance by Michelle Madow

Remembrance (Transcend Time, #1)Remembrance by Michelle Madow

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not sure what it was about this book that kept me so interested, but I just couldn't put it down!

The book starts off as Jeremy and Lizzie were driving to school, the first day of school. Jeremy had been acting differently, more distant, always worried about his new friends on the Varsity soccer team. In line to be the next Co-Captain of the team. Sure the pressure was on him, but they didn't seem to have that same connection they once had 3 years ago when they started dating.

First day of school and Lizzie's first class was History with her BFF Chelsea. Just as class was about to start, a new guy walks into the classroom. Their eyes meet and Lizzie knows she has met this guy before. She KNOWS him. She can visualize his hair a little longer, but still in that messed up sort of way. It scared her. He broke his eyes away first, grabbing the last free desk in the classroom. The one next to Lizzie. Throughout the whole class, she did everything she could not to look at him, not to think about it.. it was hopless.

Next class in AP French with Jemery, she saw Drew sitting front and center in the same class. French had never been Lizzie's favorite subject, in fact she barely sounded like an English Tourist when the teacher called on her to ask what she did over the summer. Drew looked at her stunned by her lack of the use of the language.

But he re-assured her after class that it would come to her and she would be a natural at the language in no time.

When Chelsea announced to Lizzie that she had asked Drew out on a double date with her and Jeremy, Lizzie's heart started pounding harder.

On the way to the movies, things got a little tense with Jeremy, but once they met up with Chelsea and Drew, Lizzie decided to try to forget Jeremy's harsh words and enjoy the night. Of course they went to a horror movie where everyone knew that Lizzie got scared easily.

I was up late reading this book, waiting to see how it played out -

This book was cute on a lot of different levels. I loved the draw that Drew and Lizzie had towards each other. And yet trying to fight it made everything worse. I loved the flashbacks, and how the knowledge came back to them once they remembered. It was different then other books I've read with similar topics.

Great story - recommended to those that love a good YA Romance book :)

Sweet Bytes by Kimber An

Sweet Bytes (Ophelia Dawson Chronicles, #3)Sweet Bytes by Kimber An

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Love this series! It's such a cute different style of vampires - and in this book - we learn that all Vampires are different - just the way humans are all different. There are some good, and some bad, some rebelliousness, some in love -

We meet up with Ophelia and her new body guard Tristan - Tristan is an old blood - and ready to give his life for Ophelia. Being Empathic she is very precious to the old blood - and being a diabetic, she is very precious to the New bloods - but not in a good way.

Mark is still out there, and he is still in love with Ophelia... maybe love isn't the right word, but he's defiantly obsessed with finding her. And Adrian isn't happy about that.

Just because Adrian is a New blood now, and craving the diabetic sweet blood, doesn't mean his feelings have changed. He and Ophelia are still soul mates , and he's determined to keep her safe. even if it means killing himself.
When John Pierre comes along trying to get Ophelia to let him change her over, he announces that he killed Adrian, Ophelia is heartbroken all over again.

The emotional roller coaster with Ophelia is really hard on her, but she tries hard to keep herself in check. being an Empathy, she needs to keep her emotions to a check. Now her Sister Brianna, she is a different story. We learn that she has the same Empathy powers that Ophelia has, only she doesn't know how to separate emotions yet and that's why she gets so high strung around certain people.

I love Brianna, she is so funny and cute. Always trying to look out for her twin sister, but instead always needing her twin sister to look out for her.

We also meet Victoria, The girl's Grandmother - who is also Empathy. And she is the Funniest - most awesome grandmother i have ever met :) Loved her! She's also set out to teach the girls everything she knows in order to survive their upcoming 18th birthday - it's the only way to get their lives back..

I'm so looking forward to the next book - I really LOVE this series :)

 Oh WOW!
I'm so grateful for Epilogues at the end of books - because Holy COW that was a bad place to end the book – but the Epilogue helped a lot :)  it’s also a GREAT way to look forward to the next one :) Can't wait now!

This book was awesome! I love the idea! "She was a Superhuman Conduit of Sunlight - a protector against vampires that would otherwise be unstoppable. "
It's awesome to read about - Ok in the beginning we met Kira - she is home now in Charleston because her father was laid off from work and couldn't afford boarding school in New York anymore - she was ok with that. She loved her family and loved to be close to them, so she agreed to go to her senior year of high school at home.
When she got to the school, she got her schedule and walked out of the office door ready to conquer her day - looking for some sign to tell her where her first class was, she bumped into a chest "Are you new?" A handsome blond guy with a lanky build was standing behind her looking over her shoulder at her paper. ... He told her his class was next to her, so she started to follow him. "So you are new, right, or have my great looks made you speechless?" " Yeah I'm new, and what good looks? You're so tall I can't even see your face."
The friendship between Luke and Kira is great! I would love to have a friend like him - he is a protector, a big brother and a best friend all in one. He took pitty on her and showed her around. grabbed a hold of her at lunch and introduced her to the other 4 newbie’s in the school that haven't really found their place in the school. But the 5 of them were just happy to be in their own little group.
It's a lot of fun watching Kira mingle with this group - they are all so different, and yet, they get along so well :)

When Kira's eyes met the Misfits out in the courtyard , something strange happened. But Kira couldn't figure out what it was.

In their next class, Luke was in there with her. And so was the group of Misfits - when Luke was pre-occupied with the girl and 2 of the guys, the 3rd guy's eyes studied Kira - "who are you?" is what he asked... and Kira was trapped in his gaze could only answer her name.

Tristan *sigh* So dreamy, so sexy, so bad boy gotta have him, but know he's going to break my heart anyways but i don't care -
The story is fun, exciting and full of drama! Conduit's vs Vampires - her whole world as she knew it (nice and normal) turned completely upside down, inside out and every other twisted way imaginable - and she only could rely on 2 people to trust - Luke - the Protector, whose sole purpose was to protect people from evil Vampires and teach her about her new life - and Tristan, a Vampire whose sole purpose was to protect Kira from harm -
I'm really excited I got the chance to read this book -

Tris and Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison

Tris & IzzieTris & Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Will have my review up closer to when the book is released :)
Can't wait to tell you about it though :)

This book was really cute! I loved it!

It started out with Izzie, a typical high school student who is in love with the senior most popular guy Marc - and Marc is head over heels in love with Izzie too. Izzie's BFF Branna is loyal to her and they hang out with each other all the time.

Izzie starts to think Branna is holding out on her. She's upset about something but won’t talk about it. When Izzie figures it out that Branna wants a boyfriend, nothing will stop Izzie from giving her BFF what she wants.

Izzie's mom is a witch. Nothing too exciting - she mixes potions, works in an ambulance and helps heal people. But no one knows about her potions helping. But it's a way to use her Magic and not let anyone know.
Branna knows that Izzie's mom has magic, so when they learn about a boy who knows Magic, they become a little worried. He offers a love potion to Branna, she doesn't ake it, but she's tempted. That's when Izzie decides to help Branna.

When Izzie returns to school, she has her Sprite - mixed with the love potion. A new boy is at the school.. Tristan. He sees Izzie and his eyes light up. But of course Izzie is happy with Marc, so she does the next best thing. Get's Tristan to drink half the sprite.. then offers the other half to Branna....

Well things are going crazy now she has this special pull towards Tristan, she can't seem to stop thinking about him.. but what about Marc?? Her True love?? Or is he?

That night at the school football game, Izzie decides to take a walk - that's when we learn that there are other creatures out there, and they're after Izzie's Magic - but Izzie doesn't have magic... does she??

Wow! Lots of really great things happen in this book - The only problem I have is Marc - sure he's a great guy, and all, I just think it's a little weird that he loves Izzie for 2 years - I mean in the hospital you can see the love and he's trying hard to keep her, but then all of a sudden, he only has eyes for the one that he's supose to be with. Sure Izzie has Tristen, and she's happy for the other couple, but still, I have trouble believing that Marc can just turn off his feelings for Izzie *snap* like that

But then again it goes with the ending theme, that you're with the person you're meant to be with. I loved the ending :) That was cute :)

Great book!

Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

Silence (Hush, Hush, #3)Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm so excited - I'm going to meet Becca Fitzpatric tonight in Provo at her book signing - I'll post pictures tonight or tomorrow - I'm going with my BFF. YEAH!

OK onto the review :)
I'm giving this one 4 and 3/4 stars - I would give it a full 5 stars, but my Friend has my Crescendo book and the beginning of Silence had me lost for a while. I tried hard to think about what was going on, but I should have re-read at least the last couple of chapters of Crescendo before starting this one - just to refresh my memory at least :)

But the book was great. We start off with Patch talking to Hank Miller (ie. The Black Hand) Now Hank is in charge because in Crescendo, he kidnapped Nora. And Patch wants her back alive - so in return for Hank's sworn oath, Patch gives up his wings once again.

Chapter one - Nora wakes up in a cemetery, and she has no idea how she got there, in fact, she can't remember much of anything up to that point - She still believes it's April, only when the Cemetery keeper finds her, and recognizes her as Nora - she finds out she was missing a good 5 months of her memory.
Once at home, her mom announces that good news that she is now dating Hank Miller - wow just what Nora needed in her life, right - She doesn't remember Hank Miller as her kidnapper, or as the Black Hand, in fact, she doesn't remember ANYTHING about the Fallen Or the Nephilim. But she does remember Marcie as being the one person in her life she truly hates, so why was Marcie's dad, dating her mom??

When Nora finally agrees to go to dinner with her mom and Hank, things turn south when Marcie and her mom walk into the restaurant.

Marcie confronts them at the table and everyone seems to be off a litt.e Nora excuses herself to go to the restroom, and Marcie follows.

They talk a little about what happened to Nora over the summer (of course Marcie isn't going to tell her that she tried to steel Nora's boyfriend from her ) "I can't decide if it's sad that you're so completely in the dark or funny." Marcie decides to let Nora think that Patch was just a summer fling, but they were mutual friends. And now Nora has Patch's necklace, and Marcie wants it back.. Of course Nora has no idea what she's talking about.

When Nora returns to the restaurant, she she sees her mom and Hank holding hands and lovey dovey eyes at each other. She leaves a message with the hostess that she's getting a ride home with Vee and takes off. Only then she realizes she left her jacket and cell phone at the table. She WASN'T going back for it.
Walking down the street to the 7-11 to call Vee, she notices something was off - no one was in the store, not even the cashier. Then she heard some strange noises, and rushed around outside to call 911 - someone grabs the p hone from her and hangs it up. Gabe - telling her it's time for her to leave now. Having a smart mouth has 2 advantages, it can either help you out of a situation, or get you in more trouble. in this case, it's the latter.
When Nora tries to take off, Gabe gives chase. and brings her back to the 711 - she see's the worker being beaten with a tire iron - I felt sick just reading about it - but for her to be there watching it first hand - ugh!

But that's when the few little flashes started coming clear into her mind... Nephilim ... What is that?? Just as Gabe decided it was time to change Nora's mind about going to the police, "a white SUV rolled to a stop and the engine cut off. The driver's side door opens and someone stepped out. Male. Tall. Lose-fit jeans and a white and navy baseball tee pushed up to his elbows. His face was concealed under the brim of a ball cap.

Although Nora didn't recognize the stranger, she felt the strongest jolt so intense, it stained her vision.
Time to meed Jev.
This book is awesome in so many ways - but it has a very sad beginning. With Nora's memory loss, but her dreams are clear as they can be. But when she wakes up, she can't remember anything all over again. She feels so alone. When she meets Jev for the first time, she feels peace and safe. but just by looking at this guy, she knows there is NO WAY she can trust him. Even though the chemistry feels so strong, he isn't the type of guy she'd hook up with, so trying to get him out of her mind... and dreams :) She tries to get on with her life.

But it's not easy with Hank always around the house. So Nora takes a drive to clear her head, and she runs into an old friend. Scotty the Hottie (I truly LOVE Vee!)

And Scott isn't afraid to talk to Nora, in fact, he fills her in about the Nephilim and Fallen, and even tough Nora is a little sceptical about it, she also believes within her, that it's true.

Now that Nora knows about Hank's true identity, she tries to get back to her normal life, in order to protect her mom.

Everything starts to fall into place, and we start to get on with the true part of the story ... how do we kill a Nephil?

Truly a lot of fun in this book - I've loved Patch for so long! His humor isn't as strong as it was in Hush Hush, and for that it makes me sad, but he's still Patch. And his love for Nora is the sweetest thing.

The book ends on a great note to start off the next book - I just found out that a book #4 will be coming out - will defiantly keep Silence on hand before starting the new book :) Hopefully I wont have to wait so long to read it though.

I recieved an e-arc of this book.  It was really cute! I loved it!

Great book!

Hide and Seek - a Brand new reader book :)

So sorry for not posting anything in a while - I've been pretty sick with walking Pneumonia - plus school started and I'm home with my 4 year old and 2 year old all day - ugh! I've been reading some though - not a lot, but some - I read a couple of ARC books from Netgalley - but I can't post the reviews until closer to the release date, so that's why you're not seeing much the last 2 weeks :( Sorry! I'm working on it though :)

I am home-schooling my pre-schooler - I have NO idea what I'm doing, but we're getting there :)
I bought him a few of the "Brand new reader" books from the library book sale, and this week we have read "Hide and Seek" it's really a cute book about a frog and a fish playing hide and seek :)  Fish hides behind plant - Frog finds Fish - Frog hides behind Rock - Fish finds Frog - Fish hides behind Frog - Frog looks for Fish - Fish taps Frog - Frog finds Fish - the end :)

Cute book - Collin (my 4 year old) really loves it :)

SO for an arts and craft idea, we made a frog and a fish :) I used all of my punches to make them, and my die cut machine to make the mini bag - the bag represents the rock and plant (it has a flower on it :) plus he can put them inside the mini bag when he's not playing with them. I made one of each for myself too, but my 2 year old ate the frog head already and ripped the stick out of the fish *sigh* oh well - it was fun while it lasted :)

Right now I'm reading "Second guessing Fate" and I have one more "Hold Me" ARC to read before I get back to reading regular books :) I think I have a couple of reviews I owe Chasity over at LovLivLifeReviews - so I'll be reading and posting soon :)

I'm still sick, so reading is slow, but it's getting there :)

Happy Reading all !

Exiled by M.R. Merrick

Exiled (The Protector)Exiled by M.R. Merrick

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really cute book - the ending leaves you wide open for more possibilities :)

True this book was predictable - I guessed everything early on - but you know what, it was ok - the book really pulled it off -

Sure you know what kind of demon book they were looking for, they dropped a lot of hints on that one - and it wasn't a big surprise to see who was in charge of the big mess at the end... but there was a lot of little things inside the story that made up for that -

Willy - He's the cutest half-demon! Sure he's a big strong guy, but with his stutter and him always afraid - it really really makes him that much of a cuter character. bringing in the truth that just because he's half demon, doesn't make him evil ... right?

Then of course there is Rayna - what the heck is she?? There is a LOT of stuff mixed in with her, but where did it all come from? She's a mystery, but a very talented mystery - with *hand that were both warm and soft *

I really liked this book for many reasons - everything was on impulse. and it seemed like everything was going wrong ... until everything started piecing together....

Now, once they get into this new demention - ok I'm not a big fan of leap frog in different dementions in my books - But M.R. Merrick did a really good job with this new world! Drakar is what it's called :) I loved the Purple river with water with a taste of it's own. The purest and richest water to ever touch his mouth.

And what about the "tiny bird" ?? Sure we could figure out what happens to it, but the magic that pumps out of it at the end is just awesome!

Really a great story - looking forward to reading the next one and finding out what happens :)

Deceiving the Protector by Dee Tenorio

Deceiving the Protector (Resurrection, #2)Deceiving the Protector by Dee Tenorio

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before I get into the review,  I do have to say one thing - Dee Tenorio could have stopped the book in a few different places and the book would have really good - but it's like she KNEW I wasn't ready to leave this couple yet, so she kept going - and made the book even more wonderful!

Awesome is the word I have to say -
I truly love the whole "Bonding/Mate" thing when it comes to wolves - it's just a whole magical attachment that no one can explain and it really gives me chills every time I read about it :)

This book was no exception - but it was different in a way that really kept me on my toes -

The book starts off with Jensen Tate - or Tate - is searching for a stray shifter who has taken off - he can barely make out her scent, it's there but if he moves too fast, he'll lose it - Wolf. Distinctly female. A faint sent, tickling at his senses.
But there is something about her sent, something fresh, enticing in its elusiveness. Almost... Tempting.

Finally catching up with her , he approaches with caution. You don't want to spook a starving wolf - and from the looks of her, that's exactly what she is. But she's strong, and she scared and she's waiting for him to come closer.

"you don't have to worry, okay? I'm from the Underground and I've been looking for you. I'm here to help"

The Underground is an organized group by the Pack where they help take in stray shifters of all kinds, give them food and shelter and help them feel safe. But there is a Killer out on the loose right now, someone is killing the strays in a brutal way, so they are moving shifters around to different safe houses, to keep the strays safe.

Now Lia is a very strong willed Stray - she has a past that no one could ever believe. She does what she needs to in order to survive, and she can't trust him - It's not that she doesn't WANT to trust him. She feels a slight pull whenever she looks deep into his eyes.

She goes willingly with Tate on their 2 day journey to the next safe house. The whole time Tate tries to talk to her, get her to loosen up a little, but she stays silent. Lol He talks to her, and when she doesn't respond, he makes up her answers - and some of them are so ridiculous, it's all she could do not to show any sign of amusement :) Until he starts whistling.  That drives her CRAZY! Nothing as loud as this, not for this long has  ever bothered her. this much. No matter how she twisted away from him, or changed his pace, he was right there. Whistling. Setting her senses warping from misery.  When she finally had to put her hands over her ears, he actually got louder. But when he laughed - he actually laughed at her! - "Don't you EVERY shut up?"

Lol well we learn that Tate in fact doesn't shut up :)  And he is good at annoying Lia :) But it also helps her to open up to him a little, too. She lets her guard down for a few mins here and there.

When they first pitch camp, deep in the woods, Tate is afraid to take his eyes off her. He makes a phone call and meets with Bertha (I love this girl) She is one of his enforcers of such , so she fills him in with the information of the latest murder - it's not pretty.

When Bertha leaves, he looks over to where Lia was sleeping, just a few yards over, but she was gone.

He followed her. Her scent was so dim he could barely smell it, but he did smell a strong sense of Fear coming from her. He followed that -

That's where we meet   Asher - Lia's  Forced Mate - This guy isn't a wonderful Mate either - sure he probably does adore Lia in his own sick and strange way , but he grabs her by the throat and digs his knees into the dirt pinning her down, She can't breathe, and she can't move.

She has never seen Asher's face, but she is terrified of him. When Asher asks why she has the scent of another wolf on her arm, she tells him that Tate is the brother of the Alpha, if she can keep him alive, he can lead her to the Alpha - So Asher gives her another day .....

And so the journey begins ...

*sigh* A LOT goes on in this book -.  so many details, so much emotion , it really stirs things up for the reader - I didn't know rather to laugh or cry half the time :)

I'm really excited I got the chance to read this book. I just bought the first one, and now I'm off to read that :)

Caged in Darkness by J.C. Stroube

Caged in Darkness (Caged #1)Caged in Darkness by J.D. Stroube

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was pretty intense! Wow! I'm a little taken back by the ending though - but only because it wasn't what I was expecting - give me time to let it sink in :)

The book starts out with Savannah telling her story of her past - up until she was 9 years old, her life was utterly hell -

As witches, Her parents were thrown out of their coven because they started practicing dark magic - the really bad dark magic.
When Savannah was a baby, her mother adored her , but as time went on - they grew darker and darker and started making sacrifice by killing innocent people - Twice a week, Savannah watched it all take place from the inside of her cage.

When her parents couldn't find anyone to sacrifice, they used Savannah. She could feel the darkness dispense itself from her pores. It would take that bit of innocence with it. Her soul screamed at the loss as it was torn from her.

One day when she was 9 years old, she escaped the house through the tiny bathroom window. She knew of the town Meadow Falls as the town her parent's coven was in.
She believed she could find the coven and they would help her.

It was nighttime when she arrived, she had no idea where she was or where she was going, but she started walking. At the edge of town, she saw a few lights on in a few of the houses. One of the houses had the feel of protection on it. it beckoned her to approach.

As she inched toward the house, her emotions were bombarding her. She backed up and stepped on a sprinkler head, twisting her ankle until she heard the bone crack, and she went down in a painful cry.

An elderly woman stepped out the door and onto the porch. She screamed for her son to come down and help bring this lost looking child into the house.

When Savannah told them who her parents were, Maye - the older woman contacted the rest of the coven and "took care of things" with her parents.

Time laps on - ok the witches come into their power at the 16th anniversary of their first breath of life. So we are at Savannah's life, now at 15 years old - she is in high school. Still scared to be around people she doesn't know or trust - but she knows her 2 best friends, Izzy and Willow - and of course Ash - her foster brother.

Everything is going well in life as they know it until she learns that the house her parents owned was being sold. Maye wanted Savannah to go back to the house to go through their things. Savannah was scared to death to set foot back into that house, but all things considering, she went with Maye.

When Maye went upstairs to start going through things, Savannah went into the library - a strange thing happened while she was sitting in her favorite chair - she looked down and noticed a board out of place .. so she opened it up to see a lever - when she turned the lever, the bookshelf opened up into a hidden passage -

And That's where it all begins ... When she releases the demon into the world - the demon that her parents had somehow shoved into a box, everything turned around on her.

This book has it all - my favorite shifter of a Panther - the romance triangle, and the friendship and love that grows between these witches :)

Great book - I'm looking forward to the next one already :)
I'm still taken back by the ending though - it's going to bug me - if you've read this book, email me - I need someone to talk to about this ending ... lol

Hard Spell by Justin Gustainis

Hard SpellHard Spell by Justin Gustainis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was lucky enough to recieve an ARC copy of this book - the book comes out Tuesday July 26th :)  go get it :) It's Great!

Its a real honest to goodness Detective story! When I first got this book in the mail, one look at the cover and the voice of Dan Aykroyd from Dragnet (1987) popped in my head - and THAT is the voice of Stan :)

This book is awesome! It starts off explaining the way the Supernatural’s (Supes) came to be known to the world (when Vamps and Were's came home from WW II ) and now living in an everyday life with the rest of us plain old humans .

Stan Markowski is a human - and he's a Decective - but he keeps the peace between the Supes.

The book starts off with Stan and his partner going into a local liquor store - nothing strange, just a couple of goblins hyped up on Meth with 2 hostages trying to rob the place.

*note* these Goblins are really cute :) Little green furry guys who speak very little English - so hearing Stan speak like Tarzan is really funny :)

Everything seems to be going well, until they notice the third goblin that was hiding from them...

A few weeks later, Stan and his new partner Renfer... Karl Renfer (He's a big James bond Fan :) Anyways - they get a call and head out to an old abandoned warehouse - Karl stays in the car while Stan checks it out - inside he finds 13 witches calling forth a demon - which is considered black magic - and black magic is illegal. SO when Stan jumps in to interrupt, things get a little crazy.

A few months later ... they get a call to a Supe's house - where they find a man tied to a chair after he was tortured to death. At first they didn't understand why they were called out - looked like a normal human's death - something for the police to get involved in, only this guy had a mark of a wizard on his wrist - which meant the crime was for them to get involved in.

For 5 full nights - Stan and Karl came up empty handed with no leads as to why this Wizard was tortured - and what was stolen out of his safe (They left the money, so obviously something of more value was in the safe)

Stan finally had about all he could handle and decided to call in a favor. Rachel Proctor is a witch - and she knows how to perform Necromancy - Only Necromancy is black magic, and she just doesn't do that stuff. But with the court's ok - making it Police business, it turns into Grey Magic - black magic used for good.

Against all of Rachel's better instincts, she agrees to it.

It takes her a full day of non-stop preparations for this type of thing. When She and Stan get to the graveyard to set up, everything was going perfect... Until something goes wrong.. very very VERY Wrong…

The plot thickens when we find out what was stolen out of the safe and Stan and Karl are forced to work with Vollman "The Man" of Vampires who happens to be a Wizard as well. He knows a lot of things that is going on. and when the strange and bazaar killings start to accrue, Vollman starts keeping little important things to himself. So Stan decides to broaden his search and find information himself. He has a lot of good contacts :)

It was a lot of fun reading this book :)

For the record, this isn't a romance book - Rachel was just a friend, and he has a couple of other female friends in the book, too but nothing but a few flirtation remarks accure. and I Love Stan's Humor - He's got a LOT of funny come backs (in his mind)

All and all this is a great book :) Glad I got the chance to read it :)

Here is an Awesome Trailer for this book! Even my kids loved it (Because they Hate vampires too :)

The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1)
The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was cute! Loved the story line - I'm not a huge fan of Steampunk books, though. I have read a couple, and they've turned out really well, but it's just not my favorite genre -

BUT, as I said, this book was cute. I'll probably follow the series when more come out. Just because I like a good drawn out romance :)

Finley is a girl with a bit of a temper. Seems every time she gets afraid or upset - another part of her personality comes out and scares her - a LOT!

The book starts out with her working as a Lady's maid, and just as she is about to retire to bed, Lord Felix takes advances at her. She is terrified of his drunken state and has heard he likes to hurt young women. So the only thing she could think of was to let her anger out and beat him up before he can hurt her any worse than a split lip and a bruised face. Luckily she heals quickly :)

She runs out of the house (knowing she'd be fired as soon as Lord Felix woke up anyways).

That's where she runs into Griffin and Sam - Literally - she runs right into them as they're driving through the Park on their cycles (motorcycle type bikes)

Sam is a little worried about bringing this girl to their home, but Griffin - The Duke - as a feeling this girl needs to be brought into their lives, and his instincts are never wrong.

Emily is a girl living there too - she is a smart girl. Completely in love with the science - She is very good with her hands and has made some healing slave to help speed up the process of Finley's cuts and bruises from being hit from the cycle.

When Finley wakes up - she is afraid of the strange surroundings and her "other" personality takes over. She lashes out at the maids and the footman goes flying through the door - luckly Griffen was there to catch the poor man before he could get hurt.

That's when we find out about the powers Griffin has over the Aetheric world (spirit world) and is able to manipulate Finley's aura so she's not frightened anymore - he promises that she is safe and he wouldn't turn her into the Peelers (cops) just as she passes out of exhaustion.

We learn about Sam - he is a big guy, very strong and even more so now that Emily saved his life - he was attacked by a machine and it killed him. but Emily would do everything she could to save him.

When she placed the Organites (not sure how to describe what this is- but the book does a good job of it :) in his body, which turns the more than broken parts of him into metal. It heals him and brings him back to life - and he is stronger and heals faster than ever before.

Sam isn't happy about being part metal , he has a lot of grief in him and he takes it out on everyone. But he especially doesn't trust Finely. And he has a good reason not to :)

This book was very interesting. It had a LOT of details about these strange contraptions - It was pretty cool :)

The love triangle - there were a couple of those - first the attraction between Finley and Griffin is great! Only she doesn't feel she is worth of the love of a Duke - Then we meet Jack Dandy - he is a very scary criminal who fancy's Finley's alter Ego - the scary side - Finley has an attraction to him as well - Maybe in the next book we'll find out who she kisses first :)

Then there is the love triangle between Emily, Sam and Jack - Jack is one of Griffin’s American friends who has come to England to help Griffin. He becomes one of the gang with his super speed. And his flirty charm finds himself smitten with Emily... which really makes Sam jealous.

The ending of the book sets does a really good job at setting up the next book - I will be looking for that one when it comes out:) I am anxious to find out more about this group of "super beings" and find out more about their special powers that keeps evolving :)

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

Water for ElephantsWater for Elephants by Sara Gruen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW! This book was defiantly not what I thought it would be - I didn't read any other reviews – in fact I didn't even read the back of the book - yes I'm a Robert Pattinson fan , and I’m not afraid to admit it :) SO of course I had to read the book. I knew it was going to be good - but I didn't know that I would have loved it this much .

I love Elephants - always have, always will - but after this book - I think I see them in a whole different light - Rosie was the star of this book (ok no Jacob was, but Rosie was the star of the ring :) I loved her sense of humor - who would have thought Elephants were like that :) HA! And she smiled – a LOT :) I just keep picturing an elephant smiling :)

OK here it goes …

First of all, The book is told in 2 different ways - One is from Jacob's (not going to attempt to spell his name without the book in front of me) POV when he's an old man - 90 or 93 years old .. he's not sure which, and isn't sure it really matters either. Life as an old man, he has all his teeth, but they still make him eat jello and mashed up foods - he can still walk and get around on his own, but they make him sit in a wheel chair all day so he doesn't risk falling down.. he's miserable.. His kids (all 5 of them) couldn't take him in, so they set him up in a nursing home. He tries his best to make the most of it, but after awhile. things start to get to him.. They rotate their visits between the kids, grandkids and great grandkids – he doesn’t know any of them anymore so it doesn’t matter…

He sleeps - and when he sleeps, he dreams of his past.....

The book started out with Jacob had a happy life - he grew up helping his dad out as vet - when he was 23, he was in his final stage of collage to earn his license then was to partner with his dad. Only things don't always go as planned when we're focusing on our future - we try our hardest to do what we want to do - but sometimes things happen for a reason - Poor Jacob's whole life got turned around when his parents died. He didn't have any money, didn't have his degree, and didn't have a place to live - so in a blind state of mind, he started walking away from the town - after a few hours, his feet started hurting. He heard a train - he started running after it- then he threw himself into a stock car... only to be greeted by a couple of circus workmen...

Jacob wins over the friendship of Camel , one of the guys who knows everyone in the show and he offers to help Jacob land a job with the circus. Since Jacob isn't afraid of hard work, and he's a good kid, he excepts this offer..

When he meets with Uncle Al - the head ring master , Jacob tells him that he didn't quit finish his collage exam, so he doesn't technically have his vet license, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone - he is a vet enough, and in Uncle Al's eyes, he's a good asset to the circus.

This book has everything in it - I'm so excited for the movie . I am hoping they can change a couple little parts to turn the movie into a PG 13 movie. The book is a little descriptive in some areas - at the cooch tent for starters, but for a movie , they could easily moderate it so she isn't fully ... "twirling around" lol

The whole thing with August and Marlena being friends with Jacob was great. I loved that August seemed to generally care of Jacob at first - he seemed to believe that he was a good asset to the circus and that everything was good in his life. I was disappointed for the most part of the book, knowing that Marlena and Jacob were suppose to be together, but she was married to August . But after awhile, everything really falls into place.

The book is a pretty fast read I think - a lot of details in the book. There isn’t' really a lot going on, other than a few months being on the road with the circus , then a full day with him in the nursing home, but the end of the book is classic - It brought good tears to my eyes to see this old bitter man happy again :) I really deserves it :)

Great book - I'm more then anxious to see the movie now :)

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6)Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Defiantly the perfect ending to a great series! Awesome job!

I have loved this series for a long time - The sparks between Rose and Dimitri were just all there - and the bond between Rose and Lisa gave me the perfect chance to love Christian and still be loyal to Dimitri :)

The book starts off with a lot of back track information from the previous books - which I needed. I got this book in December, but just now read it for the first time (WHY!!??) I didn't want to re-read the last book, this week, so I was grateful for rose being in Jail and reminiscing about her past.

I liked having her check in with Lisa often - it gave us a great idea on everything that was going on when Rose wasn't able to be there. The bond is awesome!

Then they break Rose out of Jail, and she and Dimitri are on their own - I knew that they were going to make it together - but every chance they had a lone - the feelings were there - and yet ..... ggrrrr That was frustrating!

One thing I wish they would have elaborated on was the "Keep" the people that chose to live in the old ways - I would have liked to have seen more with Joshua and his sister - maybe have them get out of the town.

BUT who knows, maybe they'll show up in Bloodlines :)

I was so shocked at the ending turn of events! The ending really did shock me! I was ... shocked! lol my daughter will vouch for how shocked I was actually - I had to re-read that page 3 or 4 times and sit there for a few mins to let it sink in before I would let anyone talk to me again - just .. shocked is all I could think of

BUT alas - everyone got their HEA - except Adrian - oh that was sad - I had read in the news that in Richelle Mead's upcoming Bloodlines series that Adrian is in the book moping around the academy, and nursing his broking heart - so maybe he'll finally meet his match in the next series - defiantly worth it to me to check it out :)

All and all I love this series - I have given all my books to a friend to read, and I'm looking forward to her reaction as well :)

Here's the link for more reviews in this series :)

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)
Review for the first 4 books
I Promise I have read Blood Promise - I just don't know where the review is :) I'll find it though :)

Some of my favorite quotes

"Do you think that's, like, REAL bacon?" I whispered to Sydney and Dimitri. "And not like squirrel or something?"
"Looks real to me," said Dimitri.
"I'd say so too", said Sydney "Though, I guarantee it's from their own pigs and not a grocery store."
Dimitri laughed at whatever expression crossed my face. "I always love seeing what worries you. Strigoi? No. Questionable food? Yes."

"What the hell?" I asked. Is this daring escape being sponsored by Honda?"
"From behind Lissa, I heard Christian say, "Worst. Timing. Ever." Adrian studied Lissa and then looked at Christain sprawling on the bed on the far side of the suite.
"Huh," Adrian said, letting himself in. "So that's how you're going to fix the family problem. Little Dragomirs. Good idea." Christian sat up and strolled toward them.
"Yeah, that's exactly it. You're interrupting official Council business."

"She was right about something else too," Dimitri said after a long pause. My back was to him, but there was a strange quality to his voice that made me turn around.
"What's that?" I asked.
"That I do still love you."
With that one sentence, everything in the universe changed."

"That's a dangerous look," said Dimitri, giving me a brief glance before returning his eyes to the road.
"What look?" I asked innocently.
"The one that says you just got some idea."
"I didn't just get an idea. I got a great idea."

Sleight by Jennifer Sommersby

Sleight (AVRA-K #1)Sleight by Jennifer Sommersby

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE this book! I want to join the circus! WOW! When I first read the Blurb I was like .. "My best friend is an elephant?" Weird! But nope not at all! At least not when you grow up in the circus!!

This book is an awesome PNR for YA (or my age :)

The book starts off as we meet Gemma and her unfortunate bad luck - seems like this poor girl can't get a single break. Her mother just died. She didn't know her that well. She was sick - seriously sick. Like Gem, her mom was able to see Shades (Spirit/Ghosts, whatever) But they've never bothered Gem, didn't try to talk to her, just sort of .. hung out in their own place - but her mom claimed that they attacked her, they told her to do things. Hospitals couldn't help her, so she ended up killing herself.

Gem is kind of loner - she prefers to be alone with her thoughts (and her elephants) She has friends, happy go lucky girly girly Junie, and her twin brother Ash (whom Gem has had a crush on for a long time) But life is how she likes it. She is happy with the way things are...

Until ONE DAY - Ted , her circus "uncle" Guardian decided it's time to settle the circus down. They have a benefactor who wants the circus to settle down in their town. Which is what Ted has always wanted.

Which meant Public high school for the kids??? Gem wasn't too thrilled with that idea at all! But being the good sport she is, she will do what she needs to do to make Ted and his wife Marlene happy.

First day of public school. The school is anxious to have all the circus "freaks" attend their new high school. Well some of them .

Since Gem seems to have all the bad luck, everyone who checked in at the school got a first day of school buddy to help them through their first day , that is, except Gem - The principal seemed to over look her...

Luckily - Henry Demitri was late for school that early Monday morning. And his good looks, sweet talking charm, (and daddy's money being thrown around town) his tardy was overlooked with the promise to be Gem's Buddy for the day.

Henry is the son of Lucian Demitri - he is the one that is financing the cirrus to stay in town. So Gem figures that Henry is a spoiled stuck up guy that throws his daddy's money around to get what he wants.

She couldn't be more wrong ...

This book is awesome - throws a LOT of twists and curves at you.
Henry plays a big role in Gem's life. But no matter how much things get thrown at Gem, she really tries to deals with it. She grows up fast and takes on a lot. I really liked reading the ending - without giving it away, she is forced to take on a LOT of supernatural things with only Henry's help. He seems to have a lot more information than she does about everything, but she has the protection, the ability - she doesn't just say ... "ok I have to do it myself let's get this over with" She is a true 17 year old girl who doesn't know what to do! She has her little break down and Henry does a great job at being there for her. When she breaks down and says she can't deal with it - he's right there telling her she's not alone (awe)

I wish the book was a good 50 - 100 pages longer. it didn't leave off in a good way.. well except it's all set up for AVRA-K book 2 - which I have no idea when it comes out - but I want to be one of the first in line to get it :)

Blood & Spirits by Dennis Sharpe

Blood & Spirits (The Coming Storm Trilogy Book 1)Blood & Spirits by Dennis Sharpe

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Cute story - leaves it open for another book to continue the path of destruction :)

The book is about a Vampire - Veronica who runs a brothel. She loves these girls, and looks after them all. She has taught them that they only do what they want to do, and nothing more. These girls are very high class.

She comes across this little spirit girl, Rachelle, she's about 8 - and Veronica really grows attach to her spirit -

One day Veronica is out and about and everything starts to fall apart. Rachelle is kidnapped, her house burns down, her girls get hurt - she gets attacked by non-quiet spirits (think of pultraguise) everything that could go wrong, does.

If it wasn't for Frank (her trusty human PI) and Garrett (A Vampire who shows up to help her with the spirits) her life would have fallen apart.

Veronica is not as strong as most heroines in the books you read - but she does keep her head in the game. She gets slammed by things going wrong, she doesn't get a chance to step back and see the big picture. She starts going against her instincts because she can't tell who is right and wrong anymore.

The descriptions of the non-quiet spirits and Paco - ewwww - are pretty descriptive. There is a really big gross-out part with Paco in the middle that I probably would have been happier if I hadn't read (Still makes me squirm in my own skin just thinking about it - blach!)

And I would have liked to have seen more  with Garrett and Veronica

Girl vs Ghost by Kate McMurry

Girl vs Ghost (Misdirected Magic Trilogy, #1)Girl vs Ghost by Kate McMurry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Way Cute! I was hooked once I started reading this book!

I've never been much of witchcraft when I was a teen, but this was so cool! NOTHING like how I thought the book would be like :)

The book starts off with 2 friends, Isabel and Tripp playing around one Friday night. Tripp tries to do a summoning and lo and behold - a strange teenage boy falls from the sky and lands in the circle of salt right in the middle of Isabel's bedroom!

When Isabel stands up to defend herself, she finds out that Tripp has no idea who Isabel is talking about. But Isabel can see and hear this stranger. And no one knows why.

Isabel and Tripp decide to go to Tripp's grandmother whom happens to own a witchcraft shop, and ask her for help.

When Alora (Tripp's Grandmother) begins her own summonsing for an Angel to take this boy towards the light - we learn that it is not his time.. This boy (Marc) has a quest he needs to conquer, and being tied to Isabel (literally with a 5 foot long orange rope) because Isabel was suppose to be there to help him.

This book was way cute in many ways - When Marc learns there is a lot more to Isabel's life then the furry she directs at him constantly.

Marc trying to help her by fighing the "low spirits" (those were spooky) and of course Tripp.. Her personality was just awesome!

Isabel and Tripp try their best to help out Marc with learning about his life and death. To try to help him finish his quest, but it seems like everything is against them.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It had a lot of twists to it to keep you guessing how Marc died, and what's going to happen next.

I also really liked seeing the illistrations on each chapter :)

Defiantly going to be looking out for book 2 - Witches Vs Wizards’ That comes out in November 2011 :)

Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley - Cartwright

Red Riding HoodRed Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm going to say 4 stars - I wanted to stick with 3, but the book did hold my attention pretty well. As badly as it jumped around and confused me - I was really surprised by the ending (which I had to go to the website to read)

The book starts off with 2 little sisters being best friends but very different - we learn about Valerie's love for her best friend peter who had to leave town in a hurry.

Every Full moon a family from the village is selected to set out a sacrifice for the werewolf (ie, goat, chicken )

Well when it was Valerie's family's turn to set out the sacrifice, they could only afford to let go the family pet - a goat. But Valerie didn't want to let it go. So she snuck out of her house to go rescue the goat. But what she saw was pure horror - the Wolf. It looked over at her, and Valerie Shut her eyes and played dead. She heard some awful noise, then silence. When she forced herself to look up, both the wolf, and the goat were gone. The wolf sparing her life.

10 years later .... Valerie and her sister Lucie and a bunch of other girls were getting together to work in the field with the young men their age. The girls flirted and gossiped. It was then that Valerie spied Peter among the group of men. She tried to catch his eyes but he refused to pay any attention to any of the girls. He was very focused on his work...

Finally at lunch time, standing in line, he did catch Valerie's eyes and then he turned and left. She thought maybe he didn't recognize her, or maybe he didn't want to .

Once the evening came to an end, he slipped up behind her asking her to watch for his signal. Then the guys crossed the river to their camp grounds leaving the girls to camp.

After giving the parent in charge some herbal tea to help her sleep, the girls grabbed a hidden boat and rowed over to the boys side of the lake.

Valerie saw Peter's signal (a candle flickering) and followed him.

Going for a little horse ride in silence. Then the owner of the horse yelled at them to bring back their horse :) Valerie told Peter she would wait for him to sneak the horse back.

When all of a sudden she heard the deep throat of a growl, knowing the full moon was the night before, she didn't realize why the werewolf would be out again. looking up she saw the red moon (aka , blood moon)

Then all hell broke out and people scattered and ran.

Lucie taking off with Prudence, and Valerie jumping in the boat with Rose, no one know where everyone was, but they just knew they had to get home..

In the morning, Valerie got a bucket of water and went to the men's work area (cutting trees) and she spotted Peter. He pulled her over to the side where no one could see them together, and that's when he told her that he heard she was to be married to Henery (the rich guy that all the girls wanted to be with ... including her sister)

Valerie was shocked and begged Peter to run away with her. Just as they were about to turn and run towards a horse that was left out , she heard the bells - Bong ... Bong ... Bong ... (3 ment death) BONG ... (four ment wolf attack) Gasp!!! Who died!?!?!?

Ok well that's about as far as the beginning goes. Once the middle kicks up a bit and everyone is running around it gets a little crazy.

The book was a decent read. It really kept my attention. It was hard to decide if she was going to stay with Henry or Peter - I really liked them both. They both seemed decent enough :) The Werewolf attacks kept coming and people started dying. It got really intense towards the end - but instead of finding out who the wolf was, or ending the book with a decent ending - the book just stops.... it says "Is this truly the end of the Valerie's story?" Then it gives you the http://www.redridinghoodbook.com/ website to find out.

I had read around and found out that the book stopped there because the author didn’t' want to give away the ending of the movie. So once the movie hit the theaters, the Author posted the "Bonus Chapter" on her website, which is where the final ending happens.

The movie comes out on DVD on Tuesday June 14th - I haven't seen the movie yet, and wanted to wait on the last Chapter until after I saw the movie - but... I'm not big on surprises :) I peeked :) But I'm looking forward to the movie -I heard it did pretty well in the theaters, so I'm really hoping they did a good job with it , and I hope they had a different ending too :)

Driven by Rebecca Royce

Driven (The Warrior Book 2)Driven by Rebecca Royce

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I still love this series! Awesome book!

In the last book, we learned Jason was a jerk for leaving Rachel, we also learned that Chad and Deacon had a thing for Rachel, even though her heart was broken, they both decided to keep a close eye on her.

This book takes place 6 months later - Rachel still gets a lump in her chest whenever she thinks of Jason, but she is starting to move on. She is finding herself drawn to Deacon's witty sense of humor, and Chad’s sense of security . She knows her life with a werewolf could never be ...

It starts out as Rachel gets her "feeling" of the underground vampires when they dig themselves right up to the edge of the Underground Geneses - she tells Patrick and Keith.

Because Chad is the only one who knows how the car operates, and the Liberty (back up) is clear across the country, Chad is appointed to go ask for help before the Vampires dig through the wall. And because Rachel can sense the Vampires before they're right on you to attack, she goes with him.

Once they're on the "road" , they get attacked by a group of Vampire Worshiping Humans - Yikes! Like life isn't complicated enough for this group of Warriors!

Chad and Rachel are kidnapped and brought to their laire where they are to be sacrificed. Once they enter the stage to be killed, Rachel spots them... 15 werewolves... not just any werewolves .... She recognized 3 of them right off... Jason, Luna and Autumn.

Emotions came flooding into her and she had no idea what to do -

A lot goes on in this book for Rachel. It seems the poor girl doesn't seem to catch a break at all anymore.

Once she lets her guard down and allows herself to Love someone other than Jason, Jason pops back in the picture with a vaid excuse for leaving her sitting in the snow 6 months ago -and she struggles to forgive him.

Rachel takes the weight of the world on her shoulders, She feels like every time someone gets hurt, or dies, it's her fault, because she's not making the brightest decision. But she has to face the fact that SHE is not the one in charge of the evil Werewolves, and SHE is not in charge of the Vampires - she struggles with learning who she is and trying to make decisions that can be positive for everyone.

The book leaves off with a great set up for her next book. I am thinking that book will be the final of the series (hope I'm wrong though :)

Ghost Town by Rachel Caine

Ghost Town (Morganville Vampires, Book 9)Ghost Town by Rachel Caine

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think my book is missing the last few pages! YIKES! What a great book - even the ending was awesome - leaves warm fuzzies for the next book (which is out now - and I'm falling behind!)

This is the 9th book of the Morganville Vampires – I have loved this series from book one, and it just gets better and better!

We are back with our favorite Friends from Morganville - Claire and Shane are as in love as ever - and Eve and Michael are too - In this book - Claire spends a lot of time working with Myrnin , so her time alone with Shane is precious and few -

The book starts out with everyone happy and excited to be together - nothing spooky is happening, so everyone is relaxing and enjoying themselves (well as much as can be expected :)

When Claire goes back to work with Myrnin, they are still at a standstill with the new machine that is to replace Ada - the one that runs Morganville. They work hard, and start to understand things - but right now, Myrnin says the only thing that will make it work is to use a human brain - Claire's brain is the one he wants to use .. but of course - Claire isn't all too excited about that idea :)

When she gets home - she runs into Shane - they decide to go out on date - So there they are , at a drive inn movie (yeah, they're still happily in love :) when Eve calls them screaming! Vampires are attacking the Rave she is at with her friend , and everyone is getting hurt or dying!

SO leaving the Drive Inn early to head out to help Eve - Shane and Claire arrive at the Rave and total Chaos is going on. They jump in to try to stop the Vampires that have Eve and a few other humans cornered, and Claire ends up killing one. Go Claire!

Then Amelie comes in and puts a stop to everything - The law in Morganville says - if you Kill a vampire - your sentence is death ... da da dummmmmmm - So Headed to the Funders circle for trial -

*Slight Spoiler - but nothing you probably wouldn't figure out anyways*

Claire isn’t' sentenced to death since the killing was self-defense, but she didn't get off without conditions -

*Spoiler finished*

WOW! So that's where the story starts to pick up and the excitement begins - Once Claire and Myrnin get the machine to finally work - Myrnin keeps working on it and things start to go wrong in Morganville -

This book is a fast read - lots of excitement and very cleverly written. It was something that a regular person would never thing would happen to them - but when it does - wow!

Claire got her heart broken many times - and my heart broke right along with her. In fact, my husband came up behind me while I was reading, tilted my head back, wiped my tears away and closed my book. it wasn't the best place in the book to call it a night, but it was sweet that he was thinking of me :)

I loved it though - And the ending battle was well worth the heartache too -

Great book - I'm checking the store tomorrow for the next book :) Bite Club I think is what it's called :)
