Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barners

What a great book - It's been awhile since I lost myself in a Young Adult book like this - reminds me a lot of Shiver in a way - I don't know why - but it does - (Shiver is one of my favorite Young Adult books :)
Anyways - this book really captured me from page one. The way the pack is formed and the bond with the pack made me think of Patricia Brigg's Alpha Omega series - wich I really loved too - I love how they can "feel" eachother - but the special bonds can HEAR eachother's thoughts - then throw in a cutie like Chase - I was actually surprised Devon stepped aside when they met up in Wyoming the way he did - In the begining he said that he had loved Bryn since he was 5 years old - But I guess he knew that it was a friendship love and not the real deal :) I'm glad it worked out though .
The Author Jennifer Lynn Barns did a great job writing this story - It had me laughing with her scarcasm and spunky (Scrappy) attitude - and had me crying when she was beaten down - then I was in Awe through-out the rest the book with the determination she and her "pack" had -
Great book in my opinion :)

Here's what the book is about -
Adopted by the Alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life, and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it.  That doesn't mean that she's averse to breaking a rule or two.

But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian's basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents' murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs.

But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she's shaped?

This was a good book - it was different then most of the books I read - There aren't a lot of "fallen angels" turned Demon books out there . I have read a few and liked them but this one ... was a little too much . Her transfermation to a demon having Lucifer as her ex-boyfriend now trying to find her ... it was just a little much -

I DID however like the ending - a LOT. It was sad - but it just fit and actually turned the whole book into a good book :) Not sure if I'll be reading the next one that comes out in the spring 2011 - but we'll see :)

Here's the promo -
EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE. BRYNNA MALAK MIGHT BE THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE.
Brynna is a fallen angel trying to earn redemption. She’s escaped from Hell in search of a new life on Earth, but Lucifer’s deadliest hunters are hot on her trail. Police Detective Eran Redmond is after her for a different reason: he needs Brynna to help him find a serial killer who is terrifying Chicago . . . and the trail leads them right to Hellspawned demons of the most dangerous kind. She’s also got a very human problem: dealing with a stubborn, attractive cop who makes her long for everything she knows she can’t have.
Staying alive long enough to earn a shot at Heaven will mean breaking some major rules in the mortal world, as she learns just how complicated and wonderful being human can be. With so much stacked against her, even Brynna has to wonder if she’s crazy. But she’s not giving in without a fight.
Not a chance in Hell. . . .

Magic on the Storm / Magic at the Gate Devon Monk

I LOVE ALLIE Beckstrom! This searies is awesome!
I started the series about 2 months ago - I've bought the first 2 of her books but haven't seen the others in the store out here yet - but don't worry - I'll get them some day :)

I re-read Magic on the Storm because I finally got the Magic at the Gate from the library - I was the first person to request it on hold at the library right after I read the first 4 books - But I had to wait a month for them to actually order it - I was checking shelves all over the stores out here trying to find it :(

Anyways - so I FINALLY got to read Magic at the Gate - and it didn't dissapoint me :)
I SO love this series I can't even express that enough :)
The book starts off where Magic on the Storm leaves off - Allie and her dad and Stone enter the Gate of Death - she needs Stone to constantly touch her so she can breathe in this reilem.
She has the danger of staying in death too long and not being able to get back. So they move pretty fast in the begining getting to Zavion. Poor guy -

Nope not going to spoil it - Ok so once she gets back from Death - the adventures really begin :)
And the story has a lot of Shame in it - he's so cute! I hope he and Terrik work things out :) I love those guys.

Even old ghosts from past books (Pike) show up in this book and the "Pack" of Hounds come in to help out. This book has it all :)

Anyways - Magic of the Hunt comes out in Spring 2011 - and I will be there :) Already number 2 on hold at the library for it :) Hopefully I will be able to find the book before the library finally orders it though :)

SO DEFINATLY 2 Thumbs up for this series :)

Here's the Promo for Magic at the Gate -

Allie Beckstrom's lover, Zayvion Jones, is a Guardian of the Gate, imbued with both light and dark magic and responsible for ensuring that those energies don't mix. But Zayvion lies in a coma, his soul trapped in death's realm. And when Allie discovers that the only way to save Zayvion is to sacrifice her very own magical essence, she makes a decision that may have grave consequences for the entire world.

Boys that Bite by Mari Mancusi

OK umm this book :)
I liked it - I did - but it just wasn't doing it for me - too much of the "buffy" thing - and personally I never really liked Buffy . In fact Sunny mentions Buffy quit a bit in this book :) Among a few other's :) WOW

Ok I do like it - her sence of humor is cute - and the book is cute - it could have gone a few other ways that probably would have upped it a little but yeah - that's my opinion :) Her attitude was a little young for me though - Just the whole "me me me" thing - ya know :) But that's a typical 16 year old for you .
I think I MIGHT try to read the next book - but I"m not sure I"ll finish it . I have other books I want to read now - but the next book is told by her sister - "the Vampire Slayer" which says enough right there :)

I'll read for an hour and then see if I'm going to finish it or not ...

ONE Thing I did like is Magnus :) He is really a sweetie :) I can picture his saphire blue eyes :)

Updated - I'm not reading the rest of the series :) But It was still a cute book ... just want to move on now :)

Here's what they say about the book -

This is not your typical boybites-girl love story.

Technically Sunshine can't get killed-because she's immortal. Well, not quite yet. Due to the worst case of mistaken identity with her dark-side-loving twin sister at a Goth club called Club Fang, Magnus, a vampire hottie, went for Sunshine's innocent neck. Now if she doesn't reverse it in time, Magnus will be her blood mate forever and she's doomed to be a blood-gulping, pasty, daylight-hating vampire. That would seriously bite.

And now, after the unfortunate slaying of the vampire leader, Sunshine, her sister Rayne, and Magnus must find the one thing that can solve her problem: the Holy Grail. They wish it were a joke but it's not. It's absolutely necessary that Sunshine gets out of this in time, because somehow she scored the hottest prom date in her school, the mouth-watering Jake Wilder. So she just can't be a vampire for the prom-let alone the rest of eternity.(less)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW! Awesome book! I really enjoyed this one - I even started talking like they did last night to my husband . He got a kick out of my new accent :)

This book was great - loved it from everyones POV. I don't really know how I feel about Hoodoo/voodoo Hex stuff - but I am sure it's scary stuff.

The book left off in a really intense way - leaving me anxious for the next book to find out what happened to her cousin. How does Layne come back into the picture - and does Dallas and Belladonna get to hook up??

Lots of great things I'm sure in this series - I can't wait to read on :)

Here's what the book is about -

"There will be times, girl, when all your magic ain't going to be enough, times when it will seem to dry up like mud under the noonday sun, or even make matters worse . . ."

Kallie Riviere, a fiery Cajun hoodoo apprentice with a talent for trouble, finds herself smack-dab in the middle of one of those times her mentor warned her about when she visits New Orleans to attend the Hecatean Alliance's annual carnival: her hard-bodied conjurer hookup ends up dead in her blood-drenched bed. And he was killed by something that Kallie would never dream of touching -- the darkest of dark juju, soul-eating juju -- a black dust hex that may have been meant to kill her.

Now Kallie has to use every bit of hoodoo knowledge and bayou-bred mojo she possesses to clear her own name and find the killer -- even as that dark sorcerer hunts Kallie and her friends. But Kallie's search for the truth soon leads her in a direction she never anticipated -- back home to Bayou Cypres Noir, and to Gabrielle LaRue, Kallie's aunt, protector, and hoodoo mentor . . . who is looking more and more like she just might be the one who wants Kallie dead.

I LOVE this book! Now i"m going to have to look around to see where I can buy it!
This books is sweet - I really love the intensity of Eli's and Riley's relationship - he held off for so long - but it does give me the whole "Twilight" feel to it - with her extra Potent smelling blood. and the way he's trying to warn her off . The mind reading (ha ha! That would drive me nuts)

There were a few "intense" scenes with the sex - but it went fast and was easy to skim over - Her erotic dreams that she can't control arn't too bad either :)

I can't wait til June for the next one to come out - then December for the 3rd book - I usually don't start on the first book of a series without the next book or two to keep me happy - but I didn't realize this one was brand new until after I checked it out at the library :)

That's ok - I'll be happy to re-read it in June.

BTW - her tats are awesome - and I will be so happy if Seth and Josie get together in the next book :) I was hoping they would since she came into the book - her punk goth ways just seem so cute :) and they are the same age :)

My Soul to Save - Rachel Vincent

This is the second time reading this book - it was still good :)
I'm taking a break from soul screamers because My soul to Steal comes out January 1st - I am HOPING to be able to find it at the store out here - but it's a 45 min drive to the nearest bookstore - so I'm not sure if I'll be able to read that one right away - but I have read a lot of pre-readers reviews and I can't WAIT to read it - so I'll be looking hard for it :)
I will read My soul to Keep shortly after Christmas - that way I can keep reading into the next book around new years :)

Love this book - it's very orginal with the discriptions of the Netherworld. The Feins are my favorite I think though :) I love the way they freak out with the balloon of deamons breath - but thinking ahead to the next book .....
Anyways ...
Still love this series - recommend it to those that love Tod :) He really starts to care in the book -

Wow - so far a book a day for me - I need to slow down and start doing some actual house work and laundry :(

Here's what this book is about -
If she were going to die, I’d already be screaming. I’m a banshee.  That’s what we do.”

The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her boyfriend’s loyalty to the test.  But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls for a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.  Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk...

My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent

I love soul screamers :) This is the only book I have actually - But I just got the other 2 at the library and will be reading them again.
I read My Soul to Lose online along with Reaper online -
My Soul to Take, My soul to Save and My soul to keep are books I have already read once . My soul to STEAL just came out on Tuesday - Dec 7th - stupid living out here in the middle of no where I can't find this series! I have to wait until I go to SLC to find a barns and Noble bookstore - but HOPEFULLY I will get it soon

ANyways - definatlly recommend this book to anyone who loves a cute highschool romance book :) Nash and Kaylee are so cute together - throw in a hot Reaper trying to get inbetween them and you have a GREAT book!
Totally thumbs up - I give soul screamers a 10 :)

Here's the back of the book ..

She doesn't see dead people, but...
She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.
Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about the need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next...

Once Bitten Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin

This was apretty good book - but I don't think I"m going to keep reading into the series .. at least not at this time.
I do have 6 of them from the library - but I didn't like the book as much as I thought I would.
I have a few other books I really WANT to read - so these next 5 are going to be put on hold for a while.

What I liked about the book was her sence of humor - I loved it - she and Vayl have a great relationship - and I had to look up avhar to figure out exactly what it ment - what the glossary said was ...

Avhar—[pronounced of-har’ (rhyming with car)] At the beginning of the series Jaz isn’t clear what her role as Vayl’s avhar is supposed to be.  Deeper in we learn that avhar is a Vampere word referring to a vampire’s closest companion, someone who is a friend, protector, confidant, conscience—if required—and (sometimes) lover.

I hope that in the next few books she and Vayl do hook up - they would be better together then say her and Cole :) ALthough I do like Cole too :) He's funny and HUMAN - but I like the supernatural books for a reason ya know :)

Anyways - This was a prety good book but the resason I didn't like it... it had too many supernatural mixes that I didn't get - like the whole ending of the book :) She got too many powers all at once - too many vampires out to get her - and what was with the Enkyklios ? I have no idea what that even is - even after reading it from the Glossary :)

I wasn't too big on some of the things the  Tor-al-Degan was able to do - but I was happy with the way she died :)

Like I said before though - I liked it - but I have other books I'd rather read first :) THEN I'll come back to this series later :)

Here's what the book is about ...

I’m Jaz Parks. My boss is Vayl, born in Romania in 1744. Died there too, at the hand of his vampire wife, Liliana. But that’s ancient history. For the moment Vayl works for the C.I.A. doing what he does best–assassination. And I help. You could say I’m an Assistant Assassin. But then I’d have to kick your ass.
Our current assignment seemed easy. Get close to a Miami plastic surgeon named Assan, a charmer with ties to terrorism that run deeper than a buried body. Find out what he’s meeting with that can help him and his comrades bring America to her knees. And then close his beady little eyes forever. Why is it that nothing’s ever as easy as it seems?

My Soul to Lose

My Soul to Lose -
Rachel Vincent is one of my all time favorite authors - and since I just joined GoodReads.com and found her and her new stories - I have to read those now :) Especially since they're Free/online :) Her new book (My soul to Steal) Comes out January 1st 2011 - I will DEFINATLY be looking forward to reading that one.
I hate living out here in the middle of no where though - I only have a Walmart, Smiths and Costco for my book supply. I don't make it to the big city that often - and when I do I usually ahve all my kids with me -- which makes it impossible to visit a Barns and Nobel Bookstore - but I did fine My Soul to Take at Smiths back in August and bought it - it was the last one out there.. I've been watching closely for any of her other ones :)

Ok here is my review-
This was a good book - since I've read the 3 main books of soul screamers - going back - it made a good set up for this series - My soul to Lose isn't really a book - more like a monolog - to help set up the story lines - it helped a lot - wish I read it first before My soul to Take - but I'm going to re-read that one now :)
Here is the link to read it free - My Soul to Steel by Rachel Vincent
And here is a discription of the story :)

Kaylee Cavanaugh's trip to the mall ends with a brutal panic attack and a brainscrambling shriek she can't stop. Her secret fear is exposed. It's the worst day of her life.
Until she wakes up in the psychiatric unit.
But the hospital isn't a safe place for Kaylee, and getting out won't be easy because everyone thinks she's crazy. Everyone except Lydia, who has a secret of her own...

Reaper by Rachel Vincent

If you haven't read Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent - then you probably wont get this book -

I just downloaded it free from Harlequin Teen

I love Rachel Vincent - she is an AWESOME Author -
Her Soul Screamers series was the first that I read - and she has her 4th (or maybe it's 5th since this just came out too ) in January -
Alpha and the entire Shifters series have been nominated for Best Female Cover and Best Series Covers respectively - I have read all of those books and I agree that the WareCat searies is AWESOME!

BUT this book - Reapers - is linked with Soul Screamers -
I love Todd in Soul Screamers - he is a Reaper (like the grim reaper but twice as funny) he's always giving Nash and Kaylee a hard time - popping in when they finally get 2 seconds alone to enjoy a second alone :) He's always making himself invisable to everyone but Kaylee - leaving her to try to talk to him without looking like she's talking to him.  His personality just makes me laugh - he will always be one of the good guys in my book :)

**** Finished reading - here's my review ***
Tod is AWESOME - WOW so much different then in the soul screamer books - She totaly nailed it with Tod in this story from what I thought of him from her other books - Tod gave up his life for his brother - it's like .. yeah - it worked. And meeting Levi (his Reaper boss) was cool too - I didn't picture him as a little kid though when I read about him in the other books - but I can see how he can be a laid back but big guy boss too :)
I am really happy I got to read this :)
It left off right where My Soul to Lose starts up - with Kaylee wheeled in the hospital tied to the bed and the drunk driver getting ready to die just before Kaylee loses it - I haven't offically read My Soul to Lose - but I just found it online :)

Here is what this book is about

Tod Hudson was a typical teenager. He liked girls, sports, food and tolerated his younger brother, Nash. In fact, he had his whole life in front of him--and due to his bean sidhe heritage, it was going to be a very long life indeed. And then the car accident occurred.
Suddenly Tod's future wasn't so sure, and he had to make a choice. Life... Death... or something Between....
Well one things for sure - When you stupidly read the last page of the book FIRST - you DEFINATLY get a diffferent opinion of how the book ends!
WOW! This book is awesome!! I knew if I "willed" it enough with my mind that I could change the ending :)
I wont spoil it -but WOW!

OK this book - a LOT happened with Justine - she learned a lot about Packard and Ottos' past - I was nervous about reading about it because Packard tried so hard to keep it from her - but then Otto broke his pack and told her everything. He was trying to make Packard the bad guy in it - but HA HA he wasn't :)

Anyways - so I really enjoyed this book - I am iffy on if I want to give it back to the library :) I'll definatly have to find a way to buy this series - I SO Can NOT wait til next year for the new one to come out. *sigh*
I am now Carolyn's friend on Facebook and I follow her tweets - so hopefully she will keep us updated on how she's doing with the next book :) Her website says it a Trigology - so ONE MORE should complete the series :) Can't WAIT! Carolyn Cane is moving up on my favorite Author list :)

Anyways - Here's what her website says about Double Cross ...
Justine Jones has lived her life as a fearful hypochondriac until she's lured into the web of a mysterious mastermind named Packard. He gifts her with extraordinary mental powers-dooming her to fight Midcity's shadowy war on paranormal crime in order to find the peace she so desperately craves.
But now, serial killers with unheard-of skills are terrorizing the most powerful beings in Midcity, including mastermind Packard - and his oldest friend and worst enemy, Midcity's new mayor, who has the ability to bend matter itself to his will.
As the body count grows, Justine faces a crisis of conscience as she tests the limits of her new powers and faces an impossible choice between two flawed but brilliant men . . . one on a journey of redemption, and the other descending into a pit of moral depravity.

Mind Games - Carolyn Crane

I fell asleep Tuesday night at 8:00 - and slept all night so yesterday my headache was gone!
I finished this book -I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mind Games!
I was iffy on checking this book out at the library - it was on dispaly in the Adult Fiction Favorites (or they're just too lazy to shelf it :)
I've never been big on the physic type people unless it's written a certain way - but this book - I took a chance with it and I REALLY Liked it . I am actually concidering buying this series (If I can find them out here)  The next book ... double crossed - just came out in September - I cheated and read the last page of the next book and TOTALLY Killed it for me - I was hoping I would wake up and have forgotten about it - but I woke up still thinking about the ending of the next book :( STUPID mistake - I wont do that again.
I am DEFINATLY Sure there will be another book out - hopefully I wont have to wait a year (just checked her webpage and she will have the 3rd book out in the 2nd half of 2011 :( I dont want to wait that long! )
I really did enjoy this series though ... here's why

Justine  - ok not your normal every day hero - she has a LOT of problems going on in her head :) Which is why Packard picked her for the job he gave her.
The book has a really interesting twist - they use people physicaloligle (sp) problems and turn it around to "reboot" the bad guys - They take down their whole spirit - they lose themselves in self pitty - they lose their homes, they lose their humanitary ... then a couple of months later - after they are DisIllusioned - they pick themselves back up and start their lives over - in a positive way - totally remorsed from all their wrong doings in the past . This was SO COOL! I mean it was sad - really sad - Poor Justine was brought into this without a choice - and she doesn't have a way out - and she's NOT happy about that - but she does what she can - and her thinking is just really positive - I think she is slowly curing herself in the process.

NOW for the passion - ha ha ha - She has a steady boyfriend - but her and Packard - they have this thing that is Electrifying!!! It's so cool! Their passion is so real - but they know they can't act on it - There is on time where she tells her .. I don't want to say Victim ... maybe Target person... anyways - so the lady she is supose to disillusion asked her what she was thinking of - and she just blurted out about her stollen kiss with Packard - of course she didn't say WHO - but when she had to set up Simion for his part of the DisIllusioned stage - they had to play the part of HIM being the sourse of the Stollen Kiss - HA  - guess you have to read it to find out why it's so cute - I really loved that part -

There IS 2  little ... INTENSE Sex scenes  towards the end (Wont tell you whom it's with ) I just skim over it - it goes pretty fast - But other then that part I really REALLY enjoyed this book -

Here is what Her website says about the book -

SOME SECRETS COME BACK TO HAUNT.
OTHERS COME TO KILL...
Mind Games heroine Justine Jones isn't your typical kick-ass type - she’s a hopeless hypochondriac whose life is run by fear.
She's lured into a restaurant, Mongolian Delites, by tortured mastermind Sterling Packard, who promises he can teach her to channel her fears. In exchange, she must join his team of disillusionists - vigilantes hired by crime victims to zing their anxieties into criminals, resulting in collapse and transformation.
Justine isn't interested in Packard's troupe until she gets a taste of the peace he can promise. Soon she enters the thrilling world of neurotic crime fighters who battle Midcity’s depraved and paranormal criminals.
Eventually, though, she starts wondering why Packard hasn’t set foot outside the Mongolian Delites restaurant for eight years. And about the true nature of the disillusionists.

DEFINATLY a 2 Thumbs up for me :) I'm off to start Double Crossed now - Just because I ruined the ending - doesn't mean I can't enjoy the working up to it part. Maybe if I will it enough with my mind - it'll change the ending : )

Happy Reading everyone!!

Death Blows

WOW! Ok - This book - ha ha -
Hard to discribe this book - the reading was like the first book - Dying Bites - it was slow and hard to follow along - but over all - it was a pretty good book.
Death Blows ended... wow - ok well without giving anything away - I thought I was going to skip the 3rd book that is coming out - but it looks like I have to go reserve it at the library now - I need to find out what happens with Dr Pete ... I wont say what happened to him - but it sounds like it will be fun seeing him in the next book - she has a lot of work to do :)
If you like comic books - this book is definatly for you - there are a lot of ... grusome murders that are pretty gross to visualize while reading - but if that doesn't gross you out - then it's pretty funny :)

Anyways - So my opinion of the BloodHound Files ... it's a little hard to read - but it's pretty good.
Here is what the back of the book says ....

FBI profiler Jace Valchek was pulled into this parallel realm to hunt for Aristotle Stoker, a human serial killer who preys on vampires and werewolves. Now she works for the National Security Agency of the Unnatural States of America - and her boss is a vampire.

At a bizarre crime scene, Jace finds a bloodsucker murdered by magic, fried to the bone and dressed in the costume of the comic book hero the Flash - a character who isn't supposed to exist here. Comic books have been outlawed for their powers, including crossover spells like the one that transported Jace to this world. Soon, she's following a trail of dead bodies into the sinister underworld of black-market comics - where a deranged madman gives new meaning to the term 'super-villain'

Dying Bites -

Just finished this book -
It was ok - It had a slow start - but once I got towards the end - it got a little more exciting.
I kept hoping she would hook up with Cassius or Dr. Pete, but maybe next book :)
I am starting Death Blows tonight - it's picking up pretty well where it left off in Dying Bites - So I'm excited to read it.
Dying Bites is a pretty good book that leaves you guessing - I had thought of maybe 10 other different things that could have happened - but it always surprised me. Maybe some of the reading was little over my head.. scienctifically - or maybe because D.D. Barant left a lot of details out when writing this book.
Jace Valcheck did a lot of running around and solving crimes - and I had a hard time keeping up with how she figured everything out - but it was a good run

Here is what the back of the book says ...
Her job description is the “tracking and apprehension of mentally-fractured killers.” What thisreally means in FBI profiler Jace Valchek’s brave new world—one in which only one percent of the population is human—is that a woman’s work is never done. And real is getting stranger every day…

Jace has been ripped from her reality by David Cassius, the vampire head of the NSA. He knows that she’s the best there in the business, and David needs her help in solving a series of gruesome murders of vampires and werewolves. David’s world—one that also includes lycanthropes and golems—is one with little knowledge of mental illness. An insane serial killer is a threat the NSA has no experience with. But Jace does. Stranded in a reality where Bela Lugosi is a bigger box office draw than Bruce Willis and every full moon is Mardi Gras, Jace must now hunt down a fellow human before he brings the entire planet to the brink of madness. Or she may never see her own world again…
The 3rd book - Killing Rocks comes out in December - I'm not sure if I will read it or not - but I have it on hold at the library just in case :)

infinity by sherrilyn kenyon

I just finished the Young Adult fiction book Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon -
I really enjoyed this book. I saw it at walmart and almost bought it - But chickened out. I was thinking my son (age 14) would want to read it - but he really doesn't like the supernatural world (SHOCK I know!)
So I checked it out at the library last week and after a full day and a half of reading it - It was really cute.

I thought it would be something totally different - I was thinking Todd Vandermoth (or whatever it's called) Series when I saw the cover of this book - but it's not really much about Vampires - as about Zombies - I really enjoyed the different way these Zombies were made and how they acted compared to a few other books I have read with Zombies - I also loved the scarcasm that he threw out at his mom - yet he held so much respect for her.
Great story in my book - will look forward to reading Invincible - the next book in Feb 2011 :)

Here is the summery from the back of the book...

" At fourteen, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough, and savvy, Nick and his quick sarcasm are the stuff of legend... until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.
Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil covering a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead. But before Nick can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh-eating zombies. And he's next on the menu.
As if starting high school isn't hard enough... now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chain saw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that? "
