As you Wish by Gabi Stevens

As You Wish(Time of Transition, #2)As You Wish by Gabi Stevens

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was able to recieve an ARC copy of this book - I loved it!!

I totally was not expecting this book to be told the way it was – The first book “The Wish List” was a story about Kristin and Tennyson – Kristin was the first chosen Fairy Godmother – Chosen by the Aunt’s who threw this big responsibility on her and left her to figure things out.
At the end of the book – she mentioned 2 other women who will be chosen for Fairy Godmother’s as well –
I was thinking that the second book would take off from book one and kept going from Kristin’s POV – but I was Wrong!

The second book (As you Wish) is telling us Regina (Reggie) Scott’s story about how she was chosen to be a Fairy Godmother.
Her story is different – for one – she grew up with her family having magic – she didn’t come into her magic until she turned 27 (the standard age of a Fairy Godmother)  so growing up she always felt a little left out – especially from her sister Del – But Reggie still went on about her life as a Groundling and did the best that she could. She opened a Bakery with 2 of her close friends (Whom know magic) The bakery became a success and Reggie was happy J
Then all of a sudden the Aunt’s come in and tell her quickly that she is chosen – Reggie Picks her wand and the Aunts leave – Because in the first book – they became Rouge along with Kristin and Tennyson – and the council is after them and they can’t stay .
Reggie’s arbiter is Sophrona – a member of the Magical Council – along with her mother’s rivalry. They don’t get along – so Reggie wants as little to do with Sophrona as possible.  Which leaves Reggie to come into her magic by herself. She knows a few magic words – but putting it together with her magic is a little harder than expected.

First we meet Nate – Nate is a mysterious guy with a big secret. He comes into the bakery every morning (at 6:30 before the store opens) for his usual egg croissant and coffee.  Only he shows up in a long trench coat and a silk scarf covering his face and a hat. Nothing is visible on him but his eyes. He keeps to himself making very little conversation. Reggie respects his privacy and doesn’t invade – although she does talk to him in a friendly manner.

When Nate finds out that Reggie has been chosen for a Fairy Godmother – he wants her to help him reverse the curse of the beast. But he doesn’t want to revel himself to her – so he becomes her friend and tries to help her with her magic …

Next comes Jonathan Bastion -  Jonathan is a dream guy – Gorgeous,  rich , and famous (he makes wands)  and did I mention Gorgeous?
Jonathan has a secret too – and needs Reggie’s help – But he doesn’t know anything about loving someone else – until he meets Reggie.
Their relationship starts off at Reggie’s sisters Engagement party. Jonathan shows up and heads straight for Reggie. He knows what he wants – and he wants her.  He takes things a little fast – but hey – this guy can get away with it (just look at the cover J )

Then enters Luc LeRoy (aka – Lucas Reynolds from the first book ) well we all know he’s the bad guy – and so the story takes off …

This book is quick paced – I didn’t want to go to bed and stayed up til 1:30 am to finish it.

Reggie has to decide who is telling the truth – the Aunts – or the council – once she starts piecing everything together – The book gets really exciting. She figures out Nate’s and Jonathan’s secret.  (and I was SHOCKED!  Defiantly not what I was thinking J )
And we watch as Reggie and Jonathan fight with Luc and escape from his  new house.

The book ends with Reggie and Jonathan and her sister Del – along with the Aunt’s and Kristin and Tennyson. (Zach and Callie are mentioned as working on the outside for them ) and  Luc is still alive and building his army of followers …
The next book will probably be about the 3rd and final chosen Fairy Godmother – Stormy – but her 27th birthday isn’t for another month. So these guys have some time to relax and heal and get to know each other before Luc Strikes again.

Because this is the ARC copy – I have a LONG wait before the 3rd book comes out – but I am really anxious to find out how it turns out. How Gabi Stevens finishes up this series.

The book comes out in April 2011 - Make SURE you pre-order your copy !

The Wish List by Gabi Stevens

The Wish List (Time of Transition, #1)The Wish List by Gabi Stevens

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW! What a great book!!!

I recieved a copy of this book from my new book friend over at lovlivlifereviews - she is awesome and I am learning so much from her about blogging - she has a huge list of books - and I'm slowly following her around :)

Ok The Wish List

LOVE this book!

It is so different then anything I have ever read! It was hard picturing Kristin and Tennyson as an adult though - being the whole fariy godmother and wizzard thing - I kept trying to picture them as adults and the best I could get was 20ish :)
The sexual tention was too intense to be a teen book - but 27 is too close to my age and I couldn't picture myself going through these kinds of changes - Maybe that's why it was so cool :)

This book was way cool! There was so much going on with Kristin - she had a really hard time adjusting so quickly to her new lifestyle.

In the beigning when the Aunts were hurring off for their cruise and trying to explain in a rushed explaination without giving anything away - I was totally with her when she didn't understand anything :)

But once Tennyson showed up - wow! I could see it all placing together. But then he turned out to be a "troll" and their personalities seemed to really clash - Then comes Lucus - wow! I so wanted her to get together with him :)

but the more that happened - the more I could see her with Tennyson instead.

I think the camping trip was a little short - I wish we could have gotten a "tent scene" like in Eclipse - have them talking  and joking around - not too stressed about everything - but nothing too serious either - I really liked how that took place. They seemed to have gotten to know eachother on a whole new level while camping :)

I really liked the way the book was written - Gabi Stevens did a good job showing the different POV's. We were able to get inside both their heads - and even the Aunt's heads a little while still going through all the motions of what was going on. Nothing was disrupted by the different POV's and nothing was missed.

The magic was Awesome! I can just picture all the little crowns over the heads of children for their wishes - I wish Kristin had gotten to spend a little more time on granting wishes - she did an awesome job though. The first time in the resturant with the little baby being too warm was just too cute! And what better way to live a life but to grant the wishes of those unable to talk about it. Makes me really wish there were Fairy Godmother's out there in the world - I know my kids could really use one :)

Enter Zach and Jake - Oh wow! I can TOTALLY hear him talking - Whenever I think of a surfer guy - I'm always thinking the turtle from Finding Nemo :) And his "DUDDDEEEE" was right on there :) Then his little boy Jake (Spud) I am in love with that 5 year old :)They are on their way to a H.E.A. with his new Sprite :) I hope everything works out for them in the next book :)

Speaking of the next book - I can see a LOT of different directions it can go - there was a LOT left unresolved in this first book - a really BIG Cliffhanger at the end :( I have good hopes for this next book though - and I'm anxious to find out how it goes :)

Sami Meeting Bree Dispain

Twilight was THE first book I read - and I read it over and over and over - then I bought the other 3 books and read those book .. over and over and over and over again - Finally after reading all 4 books (plus Midnight sun ) 8 times each .... I needed something new -

I joined a group called Twilightmom's - after a few days of browsing around on their forum - I discovered their book of the month club - WOW! So many different Paranormal books out there!!!!!!

Fortunatly for me - The Dark Divine was the first book for that month's reading - And wouldn't you know it... Bree Dispain was coming to the ... what's it called .. Fairytales and Dragons book Store in Eagle Mountain - less then 15 miles from my house!!!! ((sad to say the book store is closed now :(

WOW That was a big bonus on my part - because I did drag my friend AND my daughter with me - we got our nailpolish , bookmark and sticker (still have my sticker - but I can't find my bookmark - and it's not easy to forbid 2 girls from using a cool color nailpolish - but I still have it hidden away :)

SO Bree Dispain has been in our hearts for over a year now... My daughter read the book and she fell in love instantly with it - To this day - we still can't count how many times she has re-read The dark Divine :)

I had planned on Buying The Lost Saints Dec 28th when it came out - to give to my daughter for her birthday in January - but wouldn't you know it - it's not being sold anywhere out here :(

I had just about given up and was planing on driving to Barns and Nobel  (an hour and a half drive ) later in the week - my friend and I had gone to Costco for some dog food - and of course to browse the books (new books on Tuesdays! ) and low and behold ... The LOST SAINTS!!!

You have no idea how excited my daughter was. Unfortunatly I am scared to hand over a book to her without reading it first - she's 12 - I had emailed Bree Dispain last Dec before her book came out and asked her if she thought it was age appropreate for a 12 year old - and Bree Dispain emailed me back and said she tries to keep her books for young adults because she has a neice that loves the series too -
I was excited to hear that - Soo after my friend had first dibs on reading this book (luckly it only took her the weekend :) I brought the book home - as soon as Sami saw the book on the counter - She locked herself up in her room and read the book - she read it in one day - then re-read it again .... WHOAH! WAIT! I wanted to read it too!!!

After finding out that Bree Dispain was going to be at Costco in Sandy on Saturday at 1:00 - I knew I had to grab the book away from her and read it for myself! How could I meet the author and know nothing about the book??
I slowly started stalking Bree Dispain on Twitter and following all her comments - My daughter was SO excited when I told her we were going to meet her - she ran back to her room and started writing out questions after questions after questions that she wanted to ask ...
Unfortunatly being the evil mother I am - I had to cross out more then half of her questions because I know from reading other posts from authors that they are not ALLOWED to talk about the next book - especially concidering she's still not finished writing it ... she might not even know how it's going to turn out :)

Sooo today was the big day - Sami got to meet Her favorite Author :)
Here are the questions she asked and the answers that she recieved. It took a good 10 mins of her time to answer - and I will be forever greatful to Bree Dispain for being so sweet to my daughter - she truely made this 12 year old's year :)

1.What's the next book called? She said "I thought of a tiltle but I don't know if the publishers like it"
2.When will it come out? She said "It should be coming our in December"
3.Will it be appropriate for 12 year olds to read? (PLEASE SAY YES!) She said "I like to keep my books appropriate for 12 years and older because I have a 13 year old niece that loves my books"
4.Will the books become movies? She said "I sold the movie rights, but they don't know if they want to officialy make it into a movie"
5.Will you write more than 3 books? She said "I'm probably going to only write 3 in this series, but i hope to write another series and publish at least 1 book a year"
6.What's your favorite genre? She said "She likes to read Realistic Fiction but she likes to write Paranormal Fiction"
7.Would you rather write or read books? She said "Reading books is easier but I still love to write"
8.Why didn't they kill Jude? She said "Because Daniel knew it would break Graces heart if Daniel were to command the othr wolves to kill Jude"
9.Why did Grace still trust Jude? She said "Because Jude is her brother and she knew that Jude didn't let the wolf completely take over him and she knew that her brother was still in there somewhere."
10.Were they talking about Jude in the Prolouge? She said "Yes"
11.Was Daniel still in control of his actions when he was The White Wolf? She said "Yes he was because he was a True Alpha Wolf now and he could control everything he did."
12.Was Daniel in control of himself that night on the Parish? She said "Mostly, the wolf wanted to go and kill Jude but Daniel was fighting hard because he didn't want to hurt Jude again or hurt Grace at all so Jude was stronger than Daniel for that reason."
13.What inspired you to write The Dark Divine? She said "I actually got the idea from personal experiance. I had a friend and we would play all sorts of games and stuff then he had to move. Then in the 9th grade I saw him again and he looked completely different, he had long hair, and she looked like he was on drugs and all that stuff. Then one day while I was driving in the car and saw a billboard,I still can't remember what it said, but I just started getting a conversation in my mind of a brother and sister. So when I got home I wrote it down in a journal and then it just became, The Dark Divine."
(If your wondering what questions 8-12 mean then you'll just have to read "The Dark Divine" and "The Lost Saint" by Bree Despain)
From Sami

Thank you Sami for your questions - and Thank you again Bree Dispain :) Looking forward to meeting you again next year for the next book :)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVE this book - It made me laugh - it made me cry - it made me what to throw the book across the room and scream "WHY DID SHE END IT THERE?!?!?!?!"

Augh! Ok this book was great though - Daniel and Grace have been in our hearts for over a year now.
And the series just got better! My daughter read this book before me - and I kept asking her what was happening - was Talbot a good guy or a bad guy? Was he playing her? Or really intersted in her?

What about Katie?? I kept asking over and over if Grace finds Daniel and Katie together ... She kept telling me to keep reading I was right there with Grace when Katie walked by and "the wolf" told her to rip Katie's face off! Not cool Daniel! But then again we really couldn't take Grace's side either since she kept sneaking off to see Talbot - but she's a strong girl and knows in her heart who she belongs with :) no matter what - I'm proud of you gracie!!! (you too Daniel!)

Ahhh but wow - I was happy with this book - the only thing that SUCKS is the ending - ok no it doesn't Suck - really it doesn't - just leaving it open like that - It is leaving my imangination wide open for a whole year to figure out how the next book is going to play out -

Not really spoilers - but it might lead to a sugestive ending that may or may not happen - so read the book first :)
here are some of the options I THINK will happen in the next book (feel free to play along - Bree Dispain - I'd really LOVE it if you played along too :)

Ok we all know Daniel wont leave Grace to go to ... the mountains or where ever Gabrial is from (I forgot if they mentioned it) Grace can't leave her family - and she wouldn't want to leave Daniel - no matter what he is .... Sooooooo ....
1 - I think that maybe Daniel will become Grace's perminate Pillow :) At least they can sleep together now (keeping it young adult - sorry Sami :)
2 - Maybe Daniel can be the new Divine Pet?? (my daughter didn't like that one either :)
3 - Maybe Grace gives herself to the wolf - tries to fight the alpha and becomes his mate and they have their puppies and have their HEA ??
4 - I'm excpecting a conflect with Jude (wont say why .. read the last chapter!) but I don't think we can trust him just yet ...
5 - What are we going to do with Talbot? I mean SERIOUSLY!??!? I can tell he'll maybe submit to the "white alpha" in order to keep close to Grace - but is he really going to be loyal and trustworthy??

Ahh lots of questions -
I really can't wait for the next book to come out -

Birthday Giveaway!

Today's my birthday - I am a mother of 6 kids - and a few years younger then 40 - so I think I'm doing pretty good for myself :)

I love papercrafts - and if you asked me 2 years ago - I'd say I loved it more then reading - today .... I prefer a good book over my paper crafts - but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy taking a time out from a book to play with my bigshots machine :)  Beats doing housework - right :)

I got some fun crafty stuff for my birthday and have been itching to play a little - so I thought I'd give this a try

I've never done a giveaway - I'm new to blogging - so I hope this is worth it :)

I have made this cute little bookmark card (the bookmark is the corner peice) it makes a cute card - or a gift in itself -  I have sold a couple of them at botiques - so I'm hoping that means they're pretty too :)
I have some other things that I'm still working on that would be a perfect set
