Once Bitten Twice Shy by Jennifer Rardin

This was apretty good book - but I don't think I"m going to keep reading into the series .. at least not at this time.
I do have 6 of them from the library - but I didn't like the book as much as I thought I would.
I have a few other books I really WANT to read - so these next 5 are going to be put on hold for a while.

What I liked about the book was her sence of humor - I loved it - she and Vayl have a great relationship - and I had to look up avhar to figure out exactly what it ment - what the glossary said was ...

Avhar—[pronounced of-har’ (rhyming with car)] At the beginning of the series Jaz isn’t clear what her role as Vayl’s avhar is supposed to be.  Deeper in we learn that avhar is a Vampere word referring to a vampire’s closest companion, someone who is a friend, protector, confidant, conscience—if required—and (sometimes) lover.

I hope that in the next few books she and Vayl do hook up - they would be better together then say her and Cole :) ALthough I do like Cole too :) He's funny and HUMAN - but I like the supernatural books for a reason ya know :)

Anyways - This was a prety good book but the resason I didn't like it... it had too many supernatural mixes that I didn't get - like the whole ending of the book :) She got too many powers all at once - too many vampires out to get her - and what was with the Enkyklios ? I have no idea what that even is - even after reading it from the Glossary :)

I wasn't too big on some of the things the  Tor-al-Degan was able to do - but I was happy with the way she died :)

Like I said before though - I liked it - but I have other books I'd rather read first :) THEN I'll come back to this series later :)

Here's what the book is about ...

I’m Jaz Parks. My boss is Vayl, born in Romania in 1744. Died there too, at the hand of his vampire wife, Liliana. But that’s ancient history. For the moment Vayl works for the C.I.A. doing what he does best–assassination. And I help. You could say I’m an Assistant Assassin. But then I’d have to kick your ass.
Our current assignment seemed easy. Get close to a Miami plastic surgeon named Assan, a charmer with ties to terrorism that run deeper than a buried body. Find out what he’s meeting with that can help him and his comrades bring America to her knees. And then close his beady little eyes forever. Why is it that nothing’s ever as easy as it seems?

  1. I've read up to book 4 or 5.... I will have to check. I think Vayl compliments Jaz better then Cole. After the author passed I picked up the two most recent ones and plan to finish the series soon (I hope).

I do understand what you mentioned. There is a lot going on and there is some really high tech gadgets and such. I do look forward to finishing it.

  2. I am planning on reading more - just had to take a break from series books because I had a bunch of single books to read - But I did read on her website about the author - that's sad

I will probably have to re-read the first one when I pick up the others . My library has 2 copies of each book on the shelves - I pass them almost everytime I walk in that section - maybe I'll pick them up in a couple of weeks and start on those :)
