Intertwined by Gena Showalter

Intertwined (Intertwined, #1)Intertwined by Gena Showalter

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was so strange I seriously couldn't put it down - so many things going on - it was so cool!

I was iffy on if I was even going to read this book - but I promised myself once I picked up a book I would read at least 50 - 100 pages to really give it a chance before putting it down – Page one, I was impressed by the different voices in Aden's head - something that was new to me in a story - the voices seemed so real - I really didn't know what to think of them at first – Was he crazy? Were they spirits? Was he hearing others from a pack (wares?) I had no idea!

Then page 20 - "the girl" comes along and BAM - everything is silent - WELL OF COURSE I'm not going to stop reading now!!!!

LOTS of excitement in this book though - It's hard to describe everything that went on.

In the beginining ,
Once Aden met Mary Ann - his whole life changed - sure he still heard the 4 different voices - and carried their abilities (powers) and struggled with making friends - but when he was around Mary Ann , Everything was peaceful - and it made him happy.

Mary Ann has a new friend , a Great Big Huge Wolf laid down under the tree waiting for her to go to school. He seems friendly enough , but she’s not going to turn her back on him. She has a busy schedule to keep - mustn’t stray off her "15 year plan" - she has a lot to do – Here comes her boyfriend Tucker in his big truck waiting for Mary Ann - and she jumps in trying to get away from the scary wolf .... but there was SOMETHING about that wolf that just didn't seem so scary after all.....

Aden was finally able to go to public school - yeah! He was going to spend some time with Mary Ann - find out why she can silence him, and see if she has any idea how to help the souls in his head gain bodies to give him peace. - he realizes she is NOT the girl in his vision - but he doesn't want to lose Mary Ann - Who is she, and what is it about her?? And where IS the girl he kisses from his vision?

There is too much in this book to keep going - but let's just say it was a really cute book - I enjoyed reading it. I'm not going to be picking up the next book right now - but I'm sure I'll get around to it soon :) It'll be fun to see how he handles his new title :)

The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff

The ReplacementThe Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really wasn't sure what I was reading - but I have to say I really loved reading it!

I ... it's hard to describe - It took me a long time to figure out exactly what he was - I had a ton of questions about it ...

how did they match him with the baby they stole?
How did they match Tate's sister?
Was it all metal? Or just steel?
What was blood doing to him? Just making him sick??
What did Caroline mean by "it's not good for them to stay in this mood for too long"? And were they able to get them out of the mood??

Just a few of the questions I couldn't answer – but I guess it didn’t really matter much :)

I REALLY Loved this book! So what if I didn't know exactly what he was - the emotions were raw - I really LOVE reading books in a guy's POV - a teen's POV is even more rare!! I loved it! It was so cool getting inside his head! And meeting his friends - I LOVE Roswell! he is such an awesome guy - I kept waiting for him to finally snap and say " WTH ?? " But he didn't even question anything Mackie had to say or what he needed to do -

Emma - what an awesome sister to have. She knew from the second the monster stole her little baby brother and replaced him with this new one. She did everything in her power to protect and love him and make sure he didn't die - they had a really good "moment" in the graveyard towards the end. Gave me Goosebumps :)

The Twins - I had a feeling that they were going to turn on Mackie - or tell him he's too weird or outcast him somehow - but that's not what happened. This guy really had some great friends :)

TATE - OH I'm in love with her! Ok so I'm not gay - but you get my point :) that was the way Mackie looked at her. It's hard picturing the make out scene when you're looking at it from a guy's POV - but yeah - it worked out :) She was a hard badass girl who didn't care what people thought of her. She just wanted to know the truth and wouldn't stop till she had it

The bad guys (the lady and the cutter) were very original – I still can’t figure out what Brenna Yovanoff was thinking when inventing the Cutter – I have no idea what he was – and I was terrified of him!

Then the Morrigan – creepy but cute all the same – and I loved the decaying girls – what an imagination Yovanoff had with this book! I really look forward to reading more from her

The thing I liked the most about this book was the closeness everyone had - no one really knew what Mackie was - but no one cared - I liked Roswell’s POV the best when Mackie was trying to tell him he's not human - Roswell just kept saying "yes you are - you're the only Mackie I have known, so it doesn't matter what happened when you were a baby"

I do now understand more of what he was - And I really enjoyed reading this book. It was new and exciting to read this type of fiction - something I've never read about before :)

Defiantly a 5+ star :)

Initiation - By Rebecca Royce

Initiation: The Warrior Book 1Initiation: The Warrior Book 1 by Rebecca Royce

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMIGosh! I would give this book 5 more stars if I could! WOW!

This is by far on my list of top 5 favorite Werewolf books - Right up there with Alpha Omega by Patricia Briggs and The Shifter Series by Rachel Vincent - But this one is categorized with the young adult books with Raised by Wolves -

I LOVE this story!!!

46 years ago - the world ended. Everyone that survived the attacks of the Werewolves and Vampires moved to an underground world -

Rachel had to grow up at an early age - he mother died when she was an infant - and her father mourned his loss with a bottle of alcohol every day - and passed out drunk every night. He use to be the best warrior around, and he gave it all up.

Since Both of Rachel's parents were of the best warriors - Rachel tested positive for the warrior gene. When she turned 16 - she was sent above to the unknown to test her skills.

Only she had to do it alone - she was scared, and when she was confronted by a vampire - she forgot all of her training skills she had been prepared for and talked to it.

Then out of nowhere - 3 Werewolves jumped over her and attacked the Vampire - Rachel was terrified, and once she got her legs to move, she did. With the scars of those deep blue eyes embroidered into her mind.

Later - when she reached her destination, she found all the humans had died. That's where she met Jason, and those blue familiar eyes.

I really loved this story - I wish the ending was a little different - but in a way it worked out really well for Rachel. She experienced so much during the first few weeks of her 16th year. Her emotions were very real. She had given a lot of thought before her actions, and she really tried to see both sides to everything.

I cannot wait for Driven – the next Warrior book to come out

Crushed Sugar by Kimber An

Crushed Sugar (Ophelia Dawson Chronicles, Novella #1)Crushed Sugar by Kimber An

Crus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This ebook comes out Friday March 25th

In my opinion this is more of the first book to the series – but then again this is just a preview of Ophelia’s life  before the main event in Sugar Rush – I liked reading Sugar Rush first because it left me guessing.
After reading Crushed Sugar – a LOT of the things that happened in Sugar Rush seems like it was right there in front of me the whole time – For Example , In Sugar Rush She talked to Adrian about the Barn Owl she saw at the restaurant , than seeing a strange boy walking out of the restaurant , but she didn’t get a really good look at him, so she didn’t know who he was -– and in CRUSHED – you’re right there when it happened –

So mixed feelings on if this should be the first book or second – I read that Kimber An – the author wanted Crushed to be first – but it wasn’t finished how she wanted it by the time they were ready to publish Sugar Rush – SO this is how it goes. I do like the surprises in Sugar Rush – and I really like seeing how they all fit together in this ebook as well –

I REALLY thought it was cute in Sugar Rush how Adrian likes the way Ophelia says his name – gives her a little kiss every time she says it J But in CRUSHED – LOL – so cute – he is trying to hard not to like her – but he failed miserably when he first heard her say his name – then got her to say it over and over and over again – Poor Ophelia thought he had poor eye sight and was a little slow (in Calculus ? ) Too cute though – I was a little thrown off with Tristan though – his part in the story didn’t really tell us anything – other then maybe setting it up for Brandon to come into Sugar Rush – that’s the only thing I can think of.

We do see Martian – as his “coming of age” at 18 and he is now obsessed with Ophelia – we learn why in Sugar Rush – but it’s a good set up to see how she felt about him before.

I think this is really a cute story – and it works out both as a first book or a second book – it helps to fill in the blanks for Sugar Rush – and I REALLY REALLY Liked Sugar Rush J

Sugar Rush by Kimber An

Sugar Rush (Ophelia Dawson Chronicles, #1)Sugar Rush by Kimber An

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a really REALLY cute story! I have never read a paranormal Romance book in a PG 13 way before - Kimber An did a REALLY Good job with this one!

This story along with the paranormal vampires (Alien/human hybrids)  and shape shifters - has a really good moral to it - Ophelia - a typical 17 year old teenager who wants a shot to be as normal as she can be - was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 9. She struggles with her father's illness and her mother's stress.
And let's not to forget her wacked out over protective boyfriend (Martian) whom refuses to let her break up with him.  All why trying to keep herself from going hypoglycemic.
Her Twin sister Bianca has a really cute sassy personality - and isn't afraid to tell it like it is. I loved the way she kept putting Martian in his place.

Ophelia starts getting little secret gifts (She's a Die-hard Trekkie (Star Trek)  for 4 months and has no idea who they are from - until the Halloween/Christmas party when he revels himself as Sweet Wesley - since she went as the Princess Bride.
The story picks up from there as a true romantic story with 2 teenagers who have very strong feelings for one another (nothing too hormonal - but they do have a few really intense kissing scenes :)

This book has it all - action , love, suspense. It brought tears to my eyes, made me Laugh out loud , Gave me goose bumps, and I even screeched a little at the end - before I cried again :)

I am REALLY looking forward to the next book Crushed Sugar:)

A fun little quote from the book that reminded me of my older brother with his friends when he was a teen :)

Hey, Martin. Heard your new truck has a six-cylinder.”
That was guy-talk for "Dude, you‟re the Alpha Male."
"Eight cylinder, actually.” That meant "Damn straight, I am."
“Can we go see?” Meaning, "We acquiesce to your awesomeness."

Magic Stikes by Illona Andrews

Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3)Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

That was a HOT KISS!!!

I have to agree with everyone else here - this book is by far the better of the series :) WOW! (see above :)

SO MUCH went on in this book - I really liked the Midnight Games thing - that was a great way to defeat the bad guys -

I was a little bewildered by the magic jungle on Unicorn Lane - it just didn't seem to fit in with my idea of this book - and the creatures that lived there. It seemed like a little TOO much for me - these creatures that are too weird for a description ... but it did work, so I'm not going to dwell on it  :)

In this book - Jim go AWOL - Derek has a secret and Kate is suckered into helping without them letting her know what's going on - She isn't happy about it either.

When she finds Derek in messy situation - which leads her to getting hurt herself - Jim has no choice but to bring her into it.

The Midnight Games is Forbidden from Curran - no shifter of any type is allowed to set foot in the arena - Luckily Kate isn't a shifter though .. right :)

Derek is hurt beyond repairs trying to do something good , and they're afraid for his life - they have to get into the Game's to find out why his body can't shift and heal itself - if Derek wakes up in too much pain - he is at risk of going Loup (crazy) and Curran would be forced to put him down ... And Kate doesn't wnt to see Curran get hurt - and killing Derek would DEFINALY hurt Curran

We learn a lot about Curran in this book - well not a LOT - but we do get a better idea of how his mind works - did you know he's been the Beast Lord since he was 15 years old!!!! Talk about a HUGE Responsibility from a kid! WOW - totally changed my way of thinking of him though - He needed to grow up really fast - so now I can see why he is as strict with his rulings as he is. it took a LONG TIME to get him where he is.  It makes sense.

We also learn a little more about Kate - her past, her father - her powers - my questions were answered from the first book review I did - along with a few others that I didn't know I had.

The Midnight Games takes place - I laughed so hard at their first battle - But their next couple of battles got really intense - I was shocked by the final battle - it took me a couple of tries of re-read the paragrah that said what she did (HA no spoilers here) becaues I wasn't expecting it at all!

And their KISS! ok technically they had 2 - and I was really excited about how good the first one was - but once you get to the second kiss - you don't even count the first one - because it was ... WOW - i want to smack ( ? ? ? ) for the interuption!

Anyways - I'm going to be starting the 4th book this morning - I stayed up way too late last night and day light savings had me up way too early this morning - so I'm not going to be finishing it tonight - but I'm staying home today and going to get as much reading in as possible. I'm excited to jump in - 5th book comes out in May --- tick tock tick tock :)

I'm off to hurry and start my morning chores so I can grab my book!

My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent

My Soul to Steal (Soul Screamers, #4)My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awesome book!
Rachel Vincent is an Awesome Author - one of my top 5 - and she hasn't disappoint me at all  :)

I had a lot of mixed signals about reading this book - reading reviews - seeing tweets from the author answering questions about this book - yes I dipped in the spoilers area too :)
I knew it was a love triangle book - My usual pet peeve from the 2nd book syndrome - but this is the 4th book - and it had a lot of twisted quirks - We have gotten to know Kaylee and Nash - and things were going really good between them until FROST came into the picture.  It was time something stired up their relationship a little. I think it will make their relationship a LOT stronger - once they get back together that is.... I have faith :)

Also, Rachel Vincent wrote a really nice post on her blog  rachel on love triangles and why which I read before I picked up MSTS yesterday - and that helped a lot :) She has a really good opinion about Love Triangles AND Cliffhangers ( Another Pet Peeve that everyone seems to love :)
OK ON TO THE REVIEW ... Unintentional Spoilers will probably pop up in this review - but trust me - even knowing about what's going on - doesn't do the book justice :) Read it - and you'll see why :)

I cried so much during the first half of this book -
I know I say I hate love triangles - but I don't :) It really gets frustrating because I know that kaylee and Nash are good together - they have a great relationship - and Nash is nothing but a Great guy. His feelings are totally sincere. He seems to have that unique quality that all girls want in a guy. Someone who will put his whole heart out there on the line for all his family and friends - and Kaylee :)

So when this whole thing with Sabina comes up - I can see Nash cares for her , and how badly she wants to get back with him - and I can see why - but I can also see that Nash is still in love with kaylee - and no matter what happens , they're going to be together - because that's just how Nash is. He's there for Sabine - and She's there for him - and yes - he is a little delusional about thinking he can resist her completely without having a little effect - The whole part where Sabine throws herself at him was completely justified :)

now for TOD ... *shakes head in disappointment* What was he THINKING?? Why did he tell her to give up Nash?? Was it selfish reasons? Because he actually called Kaylee Shellfish if she didn't want to give him up.
Did Tod have a vision or something about the whole Netherworld thing that was going t happen - and he thought if Sabin and Nash were together that it wouldn't happen that way?

Sorry - I'm just a little confused there :) I love Tod - he's awesome - he didn't have a big role in this book - which was sad too - but he's still a good guy. I really believe that - but I kept waiting for the punch line - waiting for him to tell her WHY he thought Sabine and Nash were better together - I could understand better If I thought it was because he really liked Sabine better then Kaylee - or if he was still close with Nash and believed that he was helping Nash - but he was hardly speaking to Nash -
So I'm stuck with this one - I really don't know how to justify what Tod did - I can't believe he HONESTLY believes that - I have read on a few Tweets that Tod is in love with Kaylee - I'm not sure if he comes out in the next book and admits it - or if I some how forgot about it from another book?
I don't know

Guess we'll see how If I Die plays out - hopefully it will explain a few things :)

Back to the review -

Sabine played the perfect polor opposite of kaylee - She was very Thick Headed and strong willed - I kind of loved hating her in this book :) You could see a lot of trouble in her to come in the next book - She seems like she has a soft side though - and I'm hoping that she can put her feelings aside and stick around as a friend and leave the whole throwing herself at Nash aside -

Kaylee did great in this book - stood up for what she believed in - she has grown up a lot since the first couple of books. I can see where Tod was telling her that Nash didn't NEED Kaylee - because Kaylee has a good head on her shoulders - she thinks things through - I think she may be OVER Thinking things with Nash though -
I can understand the trust issue with Nash - She only wants to be with him fully - and not have doubts -  but for awhile it looked like she wasn't going to give him a shot to prove himself. She kept avoiding him and not really talking to him - I kept thinking she was going to blow it .  But once she realized that she couldn't learn to trust him again without giving him a chance to SHOW her - well that's what changed my opinion and I was happy again :)

The whole thing with the Netherworld  isn't over though. it's just been put on hold for awhile - so when If I Die (that's a scary title) comes out - I can see a lot more happening in the Netherworld and hopefully these 5 people will take Harmony's advice .. because she ALWAYS has the BEST advice  .... and the 5 of them will become friends.

I really do hope Kaylee and Sabine become friends - and Sabine excepts that Nash loves Kaylee, and wants to keep Sabine as a friend. I think they can work it out ... right?

I can see a few ways the next book will play out - and I really can't wait to see if I'm right :)
Guess we'll find out in October when "If I Die" comes out :)
